How has the forum changed (for better or worse)

As long as there are WW here then it can only get better. That is if some of the men here don't keep driving them away.

Trolls however are both an asset and a liability.

 

Exactly, why take pride in forcing out WW? Every time one of the WW leave, I consider leaving or pulling away from the site. I do not have an interest in an all male or male dominated site.

 

The gentlemen in me would like to say you look stunning in your avi. The animal in me would like to say, I would love to rip your clothes off.

Dont tease me... As soon as I get out of school Im definitely gonna do some traveling, the UK, Australia, and Brazil are looking like great choices for travel.

 

Ive been on the forum for a short time compared to others on here, but I have seen some change since I first joined. The change has been completely negative. There werent as many trolls and asshole posters until recently it seems like.

 

Oh Kush, that's pretty much a constant, and this actually isn't the most I've seen at a given time, sadly. It seems they come in waves at times, but there always seems to be at least one or two fairly active people with alternate agendas. Whether they're trolls, or just idiots is hard to say for sure.

I think the forum has improved since you joined, primarily due to posters such as yourself, though the past few days has seen an uptick in troll-like behavior. They typically don't last long, but there seems to be no shortage of replacements. I joked to another member once that it's like they have a 'phone a friend' thing going. You ban one, and another shows up almost immediately.

 

Thanks for the compliment :smt058. Idk I just dont get why a person would spend their free time on a board, if they knew they werent gonna like the board in the first place. I mean how lame and bored do you have to be, to spend your free time at place you dont like/agree with. I wish the bans on posters was done a little faster, because for some of these assholes you can tell they arent gonna bring anything positive whatsoever to the forum.

 

I agree, but some people have more time on their hands and apparently cannot think of a constructive way to fill it. I think they enjoy coming here and creating a hostile environment, so they post stupid things and then argue as if they were debating world peace, or global warming, or something that actually has merit, instead of complete BS and baseless nonsense. Some like to create the perfect atmosphere for a fight and then just sit back and watch it happen. It's not difficult to find the threads that quickly devolve into feuding, so it's a simple matter of bumping them with some inflammatory comment and watching the havoc that ensues. That's one thing they tend to share, very common and consistent methods.

As for banning, until they do something that clearly shows they've violated guidelines, they aren't banable. A person can litter the forum with stupidity, and it's free speech, until they show a definite anti-IR or racist agenda at which point they become banable. I agree that with some people you can tell from post one that they're not here for a positive reason, however as long as they tow the line they remain. That part is often frustrating to moderators, as we sometimes put up with more than we'd care to in the name of fairness. However, that's partly due to past criticisms about people being banned too quickly. Certain people have complained about me specifically for banning some trolls who IMO absolutely crossed the line, and I've been accused of being the least objective moderator here. There are some people who just want to complain, or make an issue out of everything, so it's impossible to please everyone. The idea is to strike the best balance possible. Are we successful? I don't know, I'm probably not the best person to ask as there are 3 people right now that I'd like to ban. :smt042

 

I wish I could ban a couple folks on here... Maybe for Christmas the Webmaster can give the mods a Christmas present, like a freebie ban. Where you can ban one negative poster of your choosing.

If you feel someone is personally attacking you, and you have in no way provoked them, you may report the post. Just click the small triangle icon, outlined in red, with the "!" located in the lower left corner of the post. However when you are going back and forth with another member, trading insults, that's not a personal attack it's discussion, however unproductive it may be.

Mods don't read every single post on the forum, but all reported posts are reviewed and dealt with appropriately.
