...investigators compared the trauma caused by a run-of-the-mill football tackle, to that of a car crash (which is why you wear the airbags....errr...padding)

    truth

like Joe said, take away the face-masks and guys will be forced to play like rugby guys, and make softer, more delicate tackles to protect themselves, instead of going balls-out trying to put someone into the hospital

    :p

;)...and that's exactly why I love the sport. If you can juke me, so be it, but don't let me get a full-head of steam on your ass...you going to sleep!!

That's why my former teacher warned me that if I ended up playing in football, that is, I'd be surely going to die after getting that hard hit. So I decided that it's not worth to getting into that sport.

What's so fucking great about an adrenaline rush anyways? Is that mostly guys' fetish, yes?

that's why it's call a 'Man's Sport.' My mom was against me playing (for obvious reasons), but my dad was just happy that I finally got into sports period. My mom's biggest concern was me (190lbs in HS), getting smoked by a 300+lb lineman. My biggest concern was getting popped running an in-route. Seriously, we had a linebacker max-bench at 400lbs+ sophomore year. That's a balls-check right there. Plus everyone thought he was using roids.

After lifting, I get like that. Makes you feel like you can run through a wall. If I had a house, I would probably be flipping tires or moving a sled, just for the hell of it, lol.

It's the same rush some guys get when in combat. Some guys roll with the punches, when being shot at, and look forward to it happening again. Other guys don't. Remember reading about that a while back.

Some people are just built that way.

Why go into martial arts, when you know someone is going to be gunning for your head in sparring?

:eek:Family, that's a damn good size in high school!

Hell, I was 145 playing QB - no lie!! But I was fast and strong (315 bench). Unfortunately, only had small colleges knocking.

If I was the size I am now, I'm fairly certain I'd be playing Big 10 -ball.

Good lord. No wonder why this is a man's sport, indeed.

But, hey, I once doing martial arts when I was young. Right now, I'm trying to get my body back to where I once was before, so I can kick ass and defense myself! :smt042

    That's much better than football!

Good gracious, never, I meant it, never using the steroids! That's how those guys were able to speed up their muscles, but here comes the cost of their sex life. That is, their penises will shrink down.

    It's not worth.

I wore a size 14 sneaker freshman year. For a while, my feet was corresponding to my age. I was only benching around 135lb tho, as I NEVER lifted prior to football, and I was not really athletic. One day, the Head coach looked down at my feet, and asked me what size I wore. Then he asked me how tall my old head was (6'5), and that was it.....

he just told me I was going to grow into those shoes one day, and I ended up with a roster spot, over shit-talkers that picked on me, lifted more, and ran faster. Seriously lifting 135 and running the 40 in 5.2+, isnt exactly a shoo-in for a spot.

When I look back on it, it's like one of those defining moments. If I got anything from football, it was that lesson.

8)Folk, that's what football is about - HEART! Look how many divas who are gifted turn out to be shit.

I was one of those players who hated divas but would play with others with limited talent but immense desire and fearlessness. Thats who I want to go to war with. That's who I respect.

seriously...football was like a goal for me, and I just put my heart where my athleticism wasn't.

'Rudy' isn't just a movie for short guys. Rudy is every kid, that goes into tryouts knowing that he's not the fastest, the strongest, or the most skilled. But they still go in anyway, and claw through tryouts, and claw through practices, just so they can play. I was shocked when I got my letter to report to summer camp. I never played a sport in my life, lol.

:smt028...and those are the type of players that give you one-hun on ever play, rather than 'Randy-Moss' you. ....hate that shit!

'play everyday like it's your last'

pretty cliche, but it's the damn truth. if you do get cut, you know you did everything you could and won't feel a moment of regret

Has JoePa knew of Joe Tatum aka The Assassin? He made a player quit because he parlyzed him during a game. Astroturf is still used and there is no safety in Football like it was years back. Let's hope football does not go to the Dark Ages.

what can i say, people crave football just like people crave MMA. it's in our nature. injuries are a part of both fields and it takes a certain person to participate.

usually helps if you have some anger in you

excluding rugby and hockey, it is the roughest popular sport out there.

best part about football...you dont even have to make a play to get injured

all you need is for a cheap block/pancake, or to have someone roll onto your leg in a pile. Seriously, how many times have you seen someone 'without' a ball get blown up with a good block? Don't even get me started on the jackass QBs who leave the ball in the air, for a WR to bring down, lol. That's almost always a injury waiting to happen.

hockey doesnt have bodies flying around on the same scale, but it does promote getting your 1-2 combination on. I'll give them credit for that, and the players that fly around the ice with no face shields and missing teeth. One always comes with the other.:smt062

you can't assassinate a guy for no reason tho, like you can in football. If im not mistaken, you can only kill a guy if he has the puck, or is going for it. Football, the moment you step onto the field, someone's looking to put you down. That's why the lifting and being diesel is such a big deal.
