I don't know a whole lot about Cloak and Dagger, aside from their powers and a comic of their's my mom owned back when I was a kid. Anyway, might be interesting to see how this will be done for a television series, as well as all of the other comics being adapted to tv.

They're wack as hell. Dude teleports, but I'd rather Lockjaw. She throws magical butter knives of dewm.

Yeah. But, Cloak can also show people the darkness inside of themselves or something like that. Their not the most dynamic heroes, but seeing as their backgrounds are based on the whole drug/runaway/orphan stories, there may be some good ways to stretch out some fairly decent storylines. Like have them in high school or college age. Or, have them as adults who have powers that manifest that cause the two of them to depend on one another, highlighting the strong bond the two develop with each other.

Ali Larter and Idris Elba for the roles?

I could see Ali Larter. I noticed on the actual comicbookmovie site, someone suggested Hayden Panettierre should be Dagger. I could especially see that if they're aiming for a younger audience. If regular audience, I say Ali Larter all the way. Idris however, I don't know. I'm sure he could pull the material off, but I just don't see him as some hard bitten scowly guy that has been roughed up by the hard streets of the inner city. Though, I'm always more partial to giving no namers a chance too, to keep it fresh in Hollywood.

Others for Cloak...well, its a darn shame I can't think of a young black actor off the top of my head...:smt009

even seen him in 'The Wire'

that might not be a good reference tho...even then he still maintained professionalism

Hayden's a cutie but I don't know if the whole Big Screen IR heroes thing will float. I'm not talking Hancock IR either. I'm talking about Do The Right Thing passion, in a superhero shell.

The Wire? Hmm, I've heard of the show and that he was in it, but I've yet to check it out. Well, he probably could pull it off. I know Don Cheadle surprised the heck out of me in the movie Broklyn's Finest. I always believed that Don Cheadle could act, but I never saw him as a hard gangster type. After seeing Broklyn's Finest I now know not to put the man in a box, so the same is true for Idris Alba I imagine.

Don Cheadle the man. He's one of the few black actors that's skilled like that. I gotta watch that again, but i'm upset Wesley didn't have a bigger role.

If I remember correctly, I think both Cloak and Dagger were products of drug-addicted parents which was the catalyst for their powers manifesting.

Talk about some obscure comic book characters!!! But I still bought that shit back when!!!:p

these mothafuckas on some crackbaby shit

why cant we just get some black heroes from positive backgrounds, along with white shorties that came from the same

this shit always makes us and our white lovers, out to be degenerates of society...racist bastards

Stan Lee probably dons hoods on Sunday

Whoa now, we all know that us black people can't have positive backgrounds. If so, then those comics might actual develop a larger fanbase across all cultures. You can't have little Billy wanting to grow up to be Luke Cage or John Stewart Green Lantern when he has his Superman, Batman, Hal Jordan/Kyle Reyner Green Lantern, Flash, Wolverine, Spider-Man to pick from instead. It's only supposed to be the other way around, we're supposed to be able to imagine and want our kids to want to be Superman..but God forbid there is a black superhero ever made that isn't stereotypical with positive background and can be a leading character for DC or Marvel comics. Who knows, maybe we're not far off. The new Aqualad is black and a leading member for the new Young Justice cartoon coming to Cartoon Network. Though he's technically the son of Black Manta, villain to Aqua Man...but its a start, right? lol...

Cloak and Dagger- This can be Marvel's "Smallville".. they can cast some talented unknowns or near-knowns.. thematically the show can be a kind of super- "Mod Squad" without 'Pete' (Ty= Linc, Tandy= Julie)... The duo would be based out of a church/runaway shelter, they could be peer counselors during the day, and at night they stalk bad guys.. Father Delgado could be a known TV/Movie veteran.. to save money, they don't have to do supervillains every week, especially since C&D's early agenda was to target drug outfits & the Mob (maybe lift a Maggia boss from the comics or make up one)..
this would be a chance to amp up/reboot Cloak's character development in particular, short-circuit some of the typical complaints about him..
The Wiki entry pretty much encapsulates their origins.. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cloak_and_Dagger_(comics)

I'll be very, very happy if this actually makes it to television.

Okay, they were runaways who were experimented on by an evil illegal drug chemist.
I'll have to see this on TV as a viable show before I buy into it being any good.

Boring comic books, except for the Hulk, don't usually turn into better movies/TV series, IMO.

Cloak and Raven from the Teen Titans used to seem like the same character to me.:smt017
