http://hellobeautiful.com/songs-videos/hellobeautifulstaff1/for-colored-girls-official-trailer/ what have you heard about the upcoming movie
I take a Spike Lee approcah to it, and believe TP makes black people in general look like fucking buffoons (never thought Id use that word, kinda sounds like a french dish,).
Perry got it from that play that was on Broadway back in the day. Like I said in many threads Perry has a niche and the audience is Black women. He knows how to touch a chord with them. So he will continue to make movies that Black women and some women of other colors because it makes a lot of money.
I am done watching the self patronizing black moview. Black doctor married to black lawyer who it trying to become partner or her firm...but speaks "the hood ling" all works out in the end. I'm done with the modern day Vaudeville acts And I'm done with THE STRUGGLE... ..I always wondered why can't black directors make a say....Black Die hard, or the Negro Starship troopers.... ...can I get more iRobot, or I AM Legend, where is not a star being black but just a black star?? If NBC can make HEROS (which was my all time fav show) how come BET can't make HEROS or Ghost Whisperer.....
we had taye diggs with his show years ago but according to black women the women were too light skinned
Fucked up thing is, its hard out here to find possitive roles for black people. So black actors are willing to play any role just to get a paycheck and a little notoriety.
basically black directors tend to make something about guns in the hood, drugs, absent fathers, shit like that. You rarely see a black director at the helm, of a blockbuster movie on scale with Lord of the Rings, that just 'happens' to have a mainly black cast. It's like they're stuck in time or some shit. Although Death at a Funeral tried to go into a new direction. It wasn't on some Tyler Perry Big mama bullshit.
May Heroes rest in peace a slow dying victim of the writer's strike... But yeah, you got a point! I too wonder why there is never anything done on an epic scale where a leading man is black. And as much as I do think Will Smith is a great actor and good leading one at that, it would be nice if some more way would be paved for some future black actors in stuff like a Star Wars, Lord of Rings kind of movie. I guess people in general, black, white, green and purple have no desire to see that happen.... Who knows, maybe someone will have the guts to take a risk on such a movie. I think Kenneth Branaugh would, he seems like a good equal opportunity director.
exactly. Its like there is an assembly line of scripts being handed out. " we have a movie called death of a salesman to remake.. Billy johns you can direct this one. HHMMM, The last Jedi....HHMMM John lieberaitz you got it. lets see here I got a nine nigga.. Pookie this definitely you... Lets see your arms are too short to box with God. Tyler perry. this is yours. make the nigga look clowning"
seriously YMRA has a point Why can't we just have a non-racial, mainly black film, that's on par with like Star Wars or some shit. Even if the cast isn't predominately black, put a black director in it and at least half that shit. The only memorable black guy from Star Wars was a backstabbing traitor named Lando. We had Mace too, but c'mon.
