Hell, a lot of black women these days can't cook. It's mainly the older generations. My grandmothers can cook and my aunts can cook but most of my cousins aren't all that great at cooking.
Same here. None of that shit does anything for me. But, I'll take cornbread over collard greens any day. They make me gag. I damn near throw up every time I eat that shit.
You forgot chitlins. O' how I remember the days of chitlins and hot sauce. Chitlin sandwhiches. Late night chitlin snacks at night. All during the Thanksgiving/Christmas seasons as a child. It's a different story nowadays, I can't stand them. Looking back, I'm surprised my mom didn't put some in a bottle for me to suck down. :vom:
Going to the West End in Louisville during the Holidays you could smell chitlins from the streets! I could never stand the smell of it, the thought of it made my stomach ill. What is weird is that in my family neither my mother, nor aunts nor either of my Grandmothers ever made them, they thought it was disgusting! The neighbors would swear by them and like a bunch of snobs (which we probably were) we would turn our noses up (literally).
oh yeah you know thats right i love some chitlins for sure-esp during the holidays. back home they are in the stores and even up here in the north if you go to the amish
Yes, indeed. Lookin' back I'm surprised I didn't have a heart attack as a kid, eating stuff like that. Pig guts and all. You know you have to be hungry as heck to eat the intestine of another creature. With hot sauce... And don't get me started on pigs feet. :smt078
