Please don't forget how often the bible has been altered as it has been passed on and on to generations. Coming from an contrarian POV I've always found it amazing how folks BELIEVE there's a higher power yet they have no proof. One would sooner believe if I were standing in front of them, in a higher power before believing I have a $1000 dollar bill in my back pocket with Grover Cleveland on it. How does that make sense? The chances of me producing a $1000 bill are higher than you showing me tangible undeniable evidence of a higher power...

Humans emulate cattle when it's come to religion. So many believe it SO it must be true! What do we do then we all find the belief that fits our thinking or that makes us comfortable. We choose sides; Islam, Chrisitanity, Hinduism, Buddisam, Sikhism, Bahaism, Confucianism, Jainism, Shintoism and Scientology.

All of those religions promise of an after life, but which should I choose they can't all be right and I missed Juche, Neo Paganism, and dozens of others. Think about this for a minute why doesn't the majority of the world believe in the exact opposite? Is it not logical that by the time you read that passage in the book of Job that it was altered several dozens of time to fit the needs of the reader or what he wanted to teach? Is it not possible religion was created as a form of power over the people? The Vatican City has ABSOLUTE sovereignty in Italy? Why? How?

Religion has always and will always continue to move the cattle in a specific direction and to get you to believe what they want you to believe. Go watch the movie The Book of Eli and The Road then think about the power of religion..

Why does it have to be this or that? Why can't it be all. Water by itself isn't evilin nature but if I wanted to I could drown you with it or quench your thirst. So it isn't religion that's bad just the way people use it to manipulate others.
Truth is my undeniable proof of God is all living things. The fact we as humans can concieve of asking about a higher power says a lot. Now it being involved in our lives on the level we thing it is is another story all together.

Religion gives people an answer, albeit fake. Religion gives people hope that their economic situations will change. That their is some greater plan behind the tragedies we face in our lives. That out of something bad their lies something good. The beauty of religion, and I'm thinking specifically about christianity as I have very limited exposure to others, is that it is so flexible that it can be contorted to provide comfort to any distress.

Honestly, if religion does provide comfort to some and makes others aspire to become better people... I'm fine with that. However, I do take issue when christian_Bill_01 tells my child 'nobody loves you more than jesus' or some such religious nonsense.

Religion definitely provides a certain sense of comfort but it doesn't provide certainty. good points however.

I don't see how these aren't one in the same.
You can't, IMO, live in the 'comfort' of religion and not push-directly/indirectly-your beliefs out on other people unless you live alone on the surface of the moon.

A lot of christians share this same mentality. I understand that christian doctrine says that you must impress your ways on others. You must go out and preach the word of god, your duty as a believer is to save the souls of others. The thing a lot of christians neglect to observe is how much of a nuisance they make themselves to others.

Directly imposing your beliefs on others, rather they be religious, political, philosophical or other is not just rude or disrespectful, it is also quite vain. Especially when performed against the others will.

Whatever happen to good old leading by example smh.
Religion isn't bad extremist are. Most people just want to get through life painlessly without opposition, not a lot of people want to go door to door to prove that their religion is right. Sounds like the actions of a weak and scared person because if you really believed what you were practicing was the "truth" you wouldn't need to jam it down other people's throats.

I'm spiritual/agnostic and the one quality that you always hear religions preach is humility, but you never see anyone practice it. I practice it in a way, because by stating the fact that Im agnostic, Im saying Idk what happens when I die. I dont like going to church for the simple fact that ALOT of the times the dude behind the pulpit, is a FUCKIN HYPOCRITE, and if I wanted to listen to a hyprocrite tell me how to live my life, I could just talk to myself while looking at a mirror.
