For most of The world Outside Of The United States, the gratuity(tip) is *always* included in the bill....

No need to toss in a gratuity on your own....unless ya think the waitress is a hot babe. LOL!

    'Nuff Said!!!!

Its kinda sad though how some employees only work hard for a tip. I mean excuse me for being old fashion, but aren't you suppossed to do your job good in the first place. Its like tips are suppossed to be this extra incentive to do a good job. Ive worked at Burger King and Mcdonalds and received tips for doing a good job, but I wasnt doing a good job to try to get tips, I was doing a good job because thats what you're suppossed to do.

Then people wanna trip and and guilt you, then say "they don't make a lot of money". Like that shit is our problem. They ain't the only people working for minimum wage. Some jobs don't allow employees to take tips, so the ones who are allowed to are lucky and need to shut the fuck up.

I've worked in the restaurant business a lot when I was in school so I know how much the pay sucks & how much people depend on tips to get by. Most companies don't even pay waiters/waitresses minimum wage using the tip concept as the reason to get out of paying a reasonable rate of pay! This is why I try to be a good tipper myself.

BUT if the service sucks, the only tip I give is "Go to restaurant school!"!

I always Tip depending on the Service I get.The Tip counter starts soon as I'm seated @ my table & goes down from there.like was stated earlier, people think BM don't tip.. which is true most of the time!

BA, Minimum wage would be nice. There is a lot more to the story. Waitresses and waiters often work below minimum wage. They may work for 2 to 3 dollars an hour. They make their bulk on tips. That is why it is crucial for them to get tips. I'm not saying tip for bad service but if you can afford it tip for good service because making 2 to 3 dollars an hour isn't going to cut it.

See I use to think like you. Burger king and Mcdonalds has a minimum wage I believe. Being a waiter is a different thing. You could get paid 2 to 3 dollars an hour. In that case, the tips count. A lot of people don't know this. I found out from my ex's mother who was a waitress about this info. I think it is because a lot of black people don't know about the 2 to 3 hour wage that they may not tip often even if the waiter/waitress gives excellent service.

If they work for less than minimum wage, they need to take that up with their employer and tell them that's fucked up. At the end of the day, they agreed to the terms. Not my job, or anyone else's, to make up for the difference. I'm sure it's crucial for anybody that makes dick at work to get whatever extra money they can, but since they aren't the only ones struggling and we aren't bound by a contract to tip, they gotta deal with it.

That's true. I questioned why they are working there for under minimum wage(They got to be really desperate) but give it some thought if you got the money and got good service. I know you are a college student like me so I am not pushing on the issue(god knows I haven't tipped in months because I can't afford it from tuition cost.) but when you are making a large sum then you should give it some thought.

Tipping is such a ridiculous notion. Why tip at restaurants but not people in retail, I hate how you have to be looked down upon socially if you don't agree because it makes you look cheap. Every place should just include the gratuity and if the service sucks just don't go back. Problem solved.

Yea, this is the best idea. For some reason, our businesses don't want to go this route.

I didn't read all the post. The way I see it, if you can't afford to tip at least 15 or 20 percent, keep your cheap-ass at home. When you give... your server will take good care of you. Trust me, I know.

Unless that waiter/waitress built the restaurant, they can suck a dick. I'll eat where I damn well please.......the way I see it.

This is why I think everyone should try working in the service industry for like a DAY. It has nothing to do with entitlement or people telling you were you can and can't eat. It has to do with the fact that under STATE laws servers/bartenders are not allowed to make over $3.00 (depending on the state) because cash wages (i.e. tips) are unable to be taxed. So....your servers bringing you those drinks...making sure you get your steak well-done and not medium rare....trying to make your experience in a restaurant one to ENJOY....they got paid less than $3.00 to do all that for you because they depend on tips for their sole payment when working in a place like that. Fucked up as it may be....until we go to a system like Europe where tip is part of their wage...that's how it is here.

It's also extremely degrading to expect a server to basically do everything except shine your shoes, but give them a fucking $.50 tip.

plus...you have no idea how annoying it is to pick up a check after busting your ass for 2 weeks and the check says $10.00 simply because ALL your wages are taxed higher because the government thinks that all you lovely people would OF COURSE be tipping us 20% or more.....RIGHT.

Like I said before, people don't know how little the waiters and waitress make. It is not common knowledge that they make less than 4 dollars per hour.

That's very unfortunate, but that needs to be taken up with the state, not me. Doubt enough people will cause enough ruckus to gain attention for this issue though, but like you said, that's how it is here.

When I do have "tip money", I tend to give my change to my friend, homeless, or people who ran out of gas and don't have money on them at the moment rather than somebody at their job(sometimes, I may be getting played, but sometimes I feel that they are really down on their luck and really need it). I'll use my "tip money" for a friend or somebody who might go hungry that night. If that restaurant has one of those donation boxes for cancer or whatever, I'm dropping that dollar in the box before I drop it in the waiters/waitresses hand. Although the waiter's financial situation may not be great, I still see people who are in a worse position.

If restaurants sold their shit in stores, none of this tip business would be a problem for me, but until Chevys does that, I have no choice but to go to a restaurant.

Well I'm glad you're so proud to live up to the stereo-type. Why don't you just learn how to cook the shit yourself or ordering it to-go next time so that servers won't waste their time thinking that you might actually give them something other than the 75 cents they might make off of serving you.

In addition to that....there's a possibility that the dude outside asking for your 3 dollars so he can go get a pint of whiskey is playin you....I'm all for giving to charities so amen to droppin a dollar in the cancer box....but you would rather HIM have it (the dude that may or may not be playin you) than the people that are responsible enough to go get a job....work HARD at their job....yet they still deserve jack shit?? Now THATS some logic right there. I give to the homeless all the time...for that very reason...i realize I'm willing and able to get my ass up every day and work for my money...some homeless are too. But I guess I just need to pull my hobo costume out the closet and quit both my part-time jobs if that's where the real money is at....damn. Screw work! Love Whiskey!

Well, how many people that DON'T work at the restaurants know how to cook what's at the restaurants to get the exact same taste. I don't know what ingredients Aldabertos uses for Carne Asada fries. And you ask why don't I cook it myself? Well, I'm not sure if you know this, but I have the mufuckin' right to do so. I can go in a place, have a mean mug and give one word replies to the waiter because I have the right to. Will I do that? No. Can I? Yes. So to answer why I don't cook it myself, aside form not knowing exactly how they make it, it's my damn choice and don't know how to. *waits for you to bitch at me and say "well, learn how to"*

And I already addressed that I might be getting played, but again, they may just be somebody down on their luck. Also, I don't give out 3 dollars to a person.

And on another note, I didn't even know this was a stereotype. But whatever. It's better than the "lazy, fried chicken eating, gun totting" stereotype. If I have to choose one, guess what I'm going with. Maybe when I'm actually making money, I'll tipsome waiters.......or help my friends out, whoever needs it more.

    You butt-hurt as all hell.
