My friend just gave me some of this protein shake stuff and he says it works really well and that it can replace a meal. Anybody ever try this stuff? Did it work? Also, my friend said that the shit will give you pimples? That shit true, too? I'm starting to get back in shape so I wanna know about this stuff.
RESEARCH, RESEARCH, RESEARCH some stuff has been linked to acne and/or rashes, so you really should look them up before consumption. I personally never used that, so I wouldn't be able to give you a first-hand account. However, I will say that many lifters space out their meals during the day, and can eat 5-7 times in 24-hours. Spreading meals out, allows your body to process foodstuffs more efficiently, keeps you feeling 'lighter,' and stops you from getting that belly bulge you get when you eat big meals (you know what im talkin about) Protein wise, your body can only use a certain amount per hour. The excess protein from traditional whey, just gets wasted. This is why you see 'slow-release' proteins, that breakdown throughout the day. Enter 'Casein' Protein http://www.bodybuilding.com/store/mic.html but you are on the right track. How much weight are you trying to put on, if any?
Oh, for real? Didn't know that. No way I could eat 5 times a day. It's a challenge eating twice a day. Guess I should start doing that.
Meal wise, protein shakes can substitute. I know I used to drink protein shakes before work and during, instead of traditional lunches. I would drink 15oz Myoplex or Muscle Milk. However, it's probably cheaper if you buy the bulk powder, and just mix your own shakes. Either way, they fill you up and you can add a snack with it.
Like I wrote in the other post, your protein shakes qualify as individual meals. So, while you still get 3 home cooked meals or some shit, you can add the shakes throughout the day. That's what I do, because I dont have time to make real meals like that either, lol. Serious body-builders can go from 8-12 meals a day. Mind you, they're not big meals all the time. That would be insane.
you still gotta workout tho.... you do know that, right? :smt111 you also have to set weight goals. I'd recommend getting a scale, so that you see your progress. Last I heard, if you went in underweight, you came out looking right. You'll eat in basic and probably add on some pounds, whereas the big guys tend to lose weight. It's not the end of the world if you go in scrawny.
Well, o'course. I ain't 'tarded. I started PT today. Gotta buy some weights or some shit, too. I'm 146. I think I'm right in the middle for my height. I saw a couple SKINNY ass people at MEPS. Looked like they just barely made it.
lmao When this is all said and done, I think you'll put on 20-30lbs, at least. You'll probably look better than you ever did, when you come out of basic.
Just eat properly brother, the modern fitness culture is mostly a waste of time and very expensive. You add weight naturally as you grow older because your metabolism will peak at some point between 25-30. The bad thing about adding too much weight before 25 is that you'll compound that pre-existing bulk once your metabolism slows. By 2015, 75% of Americans will be overweight or obese. No amount of sugary protein shakes, P90X, or fat burners is going to reverse that trend.
^ That's so sad I'm no skinny mini, but I fear gaining a lot of weight. I have in the past (for my frame) and I don't want to go there ever again....
Just make sure you get your proper nutrition. Don't replace a bunch of your meals with protein shakes cause that's not good. You wanna have a good balance of everything so your body is operating at an optimal level. Make sure you take a multivitamin if you don't already. PS prepare for the protein farts.
Holy shit. That is ridiculous. This country is in BAD shape. I sure as hell don't wanna be "one of them".
