high kicks are risky unless you go with the front leg, which is usually harder to telegraph than winding up your rear. So, to play it safe, people usually go for the low shin kicks. At that level of competition, you really want to avoid flashy shit that'll get you KOd, lol.

 

Interesting article but it makes sense. Anything that gets commercialized usually goes down hill. Look at hip hop.

Unless you're Kro Cop (I don't if I spelled that right) he usually fights in Pride.

Kungfu Magazine is better as it focuses more on Chinese MA. As TaeKwonDo Times for Korean MA.

 

Cro Kop fought Saturday (yesterday for me) if im not mistaken.

He's a good head hunter but honestly, he has not had that kind of success with the high kick in the UFC

One Karate (kyokushin-style) fighter that I do like, is Andy Hug, who fought K-1. This guy could headhunt like no other, lol. At that level, it's very surprising to see people get caught with like that. he died of cancer while young, but he was a monster.

Damn he was nice, I wonder why there aren't any dudes like him in MMA even Rampage kicks between waste and chest level most times.

 

I focused more on Japanese styles like karate and judo, lately I've been thinking about aikido too.

The ground game opens up so many more options. Like I said before, high kicks are easier to telegraph and just give a quick fighter a gap to work with. Those guys play it so much safer because of that, whereas in a K-1 fight, you just have to worry about a counter-strike.

 

BTW, there is grappling/takedowns in kungfu. Look up shuai jiao.

 

i dont know if I would want to go into a grappling situation, with someone who's been practicing jiu-jitsu, with that

those guys are like monkeys with their limbs

 

jiu jitsu is an offshoot of shuai jiao (wrestling...the oldest form of kungfu).

now....now schools have 2-year programs, where you plunk down like two-stacks, and automatically get one 2 years later, lol. That shit looked brutal.

 

Today there is so much wapon everywhere that martial arts became not as important as before...but still i think that every real man should be able to protect himself and his family. When u r doing some martial art u r building not onle your body and making it strong u also r making your mind compeletly different stronger to any stress and u can rich much more in your life if u r doing this sport. This is my opinion...so i am really proud of those of u who is doing martial art(i dont meen professiaonally but at least u try to study and r not sceared to loose)

But it is just for pleasure and fun not for being a big fighter....it is a good teraphy for me to go there once a week and to get rit of all the stress and agression gained durning the week.
