Germany and France have large sub-populations of Spanish, Portuguese and Turkish immigrants (also mostly in Europe), particularly in the post-WWII period, and from all my personal acquaintances from these groups, they discussed pretty strong social sanctions toward them in Germany and France. It is probably a mix of race and ethno-chauvinism, but that doesn't make it any less real. My ex-father-in-law talked about getting harassed in Germany quite a big. My Turkish friends with relatives in Germany mentioned the same. I am by no means saying it's universal, but many Europeans I have met make a distinction between Northern and Southern/Mediterranean Europe. They do not say they are "not white", but they acknowledge a difference in culture and racial stock. The same way they acknowledge a difference between Anglo-Saxons and Slavs.

 

By the way, I am not trying to offend anyone here from Europe or of non-US origin, simply noting personal and familial observations.

That's true.

I noticed that a Guest was looking at this thread so that's why I came in to take a look. The contrast between their skin doesn't look that much different, and people still show disdain for their relationship. Anyways, I looked on the internet, and their marriage is still prosperous (as of today) despite the negativity around it, mainly because some black women were angry.

 

I bet that's nothing compared to the tweets she's been getting from he fellow Argentines.
