Currently in school to get out of a career I do for a big fat paycheck to a career that I'd actually enjoy.

Aaaand, started the morning stand up paddle boarding into a beautiful Florida sunrise = awesomeness.

That is fantastic! I did a marine bio course in uni and loved it sooooo much. Seems right up your alley Jaisee. Maybe you can integrate diving into your work!

I wanted to be a marine biologist at one time.

Good luck! Sounds like a fantastic new career path. :smt023

I'm working on a new career path myself.

What was it about the course that you liked so much? I do hope that diving plays a large part of my future work. I've also been fortunate in that I've had an opportunity to meet 3 marine biologists and one marine geologist in the past few weeks. The geo owns a dive shop with her hubby so I plan to spend a lot of time in the water with them.

PS: Jack Johnson put on an AMAZING show here a few weeks ago.

What changed your mind from the marine bio path? And please do share your new path...

I forgot to address this, but that's awesome B02!! Sounds like things are going very well and you're happy. :D

Congrats! Keep up the good work and post pics!! :smt112

I really don't know what changed my mind. I guess Anthropology was a bigger pull for me.

I've been doing a lot of soul-searching recently and I've come to the conclusion that there are only 2 career paths that make me light up like a Christmas tree when I think/talk about them: Forensic Anthropology and movie making. Strange choices, I know. LOL.

Anyway, I've run into a bit of a roadblock on the Forensic Anthropology front (no schools in the Chicago area offer it as a degree. :smt085)

However, I've signed on with some friends to act in their movie (I'm filming some of my scenes next weekend) and my movie making friend is finally back on track with "getting the band back together" and we're holding meetings a couple of times a week. We're going to shoot a short film from a script my friend wrote a couple of years ago. Until recently, we didn't have a way to film it. Now that we have people to help us and we've surrounded ourselves with friends who want the same thing as us (to make it into Hollywood) we're going to do it.

That's my career path, for now. I need to do something other than what I'm doing now. My job is slowly destroying me. Creative people don't belong in the job I'm doing right now. And the fact that it's a dead end job for me, doesn't help either. I've been in the job too long and need to find a way to get on the path I should have been on all along.

Anyway, enough about me. I don't want to bore people anymore. :smt042

    So jealous about missing JJ!

I enjoyed the course because it illustrated how little we know about the ocean system(s), how wildly strange and spectacular the creatures are in the seas, how much we utterly depend on a healthy ocean for land-based life, and simply as a diver, I loved learning about what surrounds me when I am submerged.

I am happy that you have decided to do this, seems like such a great move J!

Welcome back Loki! I'm so jealous. I want to go to London so badly.

I am. In fact, my business partner pitched our feature length script to the ones making the movie we'll both be acting in and they loved it and want to film it.

I think it's great to be around people so enthusiastic, but this script is extraordinary and needs money and phenomenal actors. When we make that script into a film, we want to do it right. We even have actors in mind for the lead roles.

Anyway, at least we're surrounding ourselves with people who have a similar passion. :smt023

I'm excited for you. Mine is going under major changes. I want mine to be right as well. You only have one first impression.

Very true! And I know that the script we have for the feature is our ticket to Hollywood. I can feel it. So, I don't want to screw this up.

And good luck to you with your changes!! :smt023
