http://movies.ign.com/articles/111/1114975p1.html I'm going to miss Patrick Stewart a bit, but these latest details have me curious about the movie now. It's nice to see Havoc get some screen time, as well as the Hellfire Club. Purists need not apply tho, as they say this film will not be completely faithful to the comic First Class. I'd like to see the full roster of characters soon.
Yeah, I read something that alluded to the characters Cyclops and Jean Grey not being in the movie and that it was going to instead focus on some lesser known mutants. Also heard something about it taking place in the 60's.
How can you have an X-Men anything without Cyclops???:smt018 He's one of the most iconic X-Men of all time. I like the comic book movies, but this reinvention by directors who think they know better how to revive a series by changing the mythology bugs me. 'Hey, let's make Superman a gay, promiscuous homicidal vigilante prone to uncontrollable crying jags.' Build on the foundation, but don't re-design the whole damn house!!!
Cyclops really didn't the love in the X-Men trilogy...seemed to be an early audition for Wolverine IMO. They will be including his brother Havoc in 'First Class' tho. They also said they're going the route with more comic-book type costumes. It worked for Spiderman, so I don't see why it couldn't work with the way the X-Men dressed in the beginning. They could use the dark blue outfits with the yellow utility belts, if the individual costumes we know and love are too flashy.
What x-men trilogy? All I saw was Wolverine and those other lesser guys. The director of those movies(bryan singer) needs to stay away from these movies. He ruined x-men and then went on to ruin superman. I fear he will ruin this version as well if he gets his hands on it. He killed cyclops so that cyclops could go take care of superman's child while superman paid no child support and went flying around the world! just terrible. The x-men is suppose to be a team effort in fights. I'll give them one thing though. Night Crawler was excellent in the second one. It went downhill afterwards.
lol the X-men were so much more than a one-man show...Nobody got the hammer more than Colossus tho...think he only had like 3-4 minutes of screen time The Avengers may run into the same problems tho. Iron Man did really well in the theater, so from a money perspective, they may focus on Robert Downey's character, which is horrible since it's a team movie. If the other solo movies like Captain America do well, then you may see them swing around and give everyone an equal role.
I don't think that is going to happen unless the comic book writers get their hands on it exclusively. Many people have problems of seeing a team as just one collective unit fighting it out. That was what made the x-men so awesome. It wasn't just watching a harminous team fight. One person would get knocked down and another x-man would step up and continue fighting the guy. Maybe the Justice League movie will be able to do what the x-men movie couldn't in the fight scenes.
yeah even the cartoon had the X-Men working as a group in fight scenes. Beast would throw Wolverine with his brute strength, or Storm would lift Cyclops and have him throw a blast on someone from above. The fights were always epic, because the people they were fighting either rolled squad-deep (like how the Hellfire club was) or were that badass, like Omega Red or a towering Sentinel.
It's all a matter of the directors utilising "artistic licence" and tweaking the title's original mythos to their personal artistic vision.. That, and the fact that a bit of departing from the original comic's scenarios will cause a stir within the fandom community...and the subsequent word-of-mouth will intrigue - and possibly (hopefully?) attract potential viewing patrons.. Just theorising..... OpinionsCartoonStudios@Yahoo.Co.UK
Bryan Singer is incapable of making a good movie Xmen sucked big time he turned one of the toughest coolest mutants Rogue into a scare weak teenager. Valkyrie was absolutely one of the most boring movie's I have ever seen. So of course Xmen first class is going to suck I'm just waiting on captain America than again all of the new marvel movies may suck because of Disney now. I can just see some of the coolest scenes being cut out just to make the PG 13 rating.
i cant imagine Disney doing Rated-R flicks, lol. Although, Prince of Persia did have some bloody scenes and fierce swordplay. As for Rated-R Marvel Movies...the only one I know of that consistently carries the R rating (and M-rating for videogames) is 'The Punisher.' Warzone was sick.
I thionk they kinda sorta mebbe did...through their now-spun-off subsidiary MIRAMAX. http://www.usatoday.com/life/movies/news/2010-07-30-disney-sells-miramax_N.htm Yet another slice-of-life account of a once great company (Miramax) being tossed aside used used Kleenex by the Great Deamon Hollywood Machine (Disney).
