Swimming Merit Badge [IMG] Field of study: Sports

Been a strong swimmer my whole life, got my Boy Scout Merit Badge in swimming. Was glad to see the story below at the last olympics..

Riding Olympic wave Bronx-born swimmer now champ in Beijing

Cullen Jones' Olympic win will set a new standard for African-Americans.

Bronx-born swimmer Cullen Jones didn't just help power the U.S. relay swim team to Olympic gold - he just may have shattered the stereotype that blacks can't swim.
Although Jones isn't the first African-American swimmer to make the Olympic squad (he's the third), or the first to win a gold medal (he's the second), he figured in one of the most exciting races in sports history.

2 of my exes could swim, frank in paticular is a great swimmer, good job too since tha army had his swimming a few hours a day on medical rehab

my other half thou cannot float let alone swim, i tried to teach him in a kiddy pool and near drowned him, he couldnt get his feet back under him and i couldnt stop laughing thinking he was joking. a passer by helped me get him up right
he says its cos there were no swimming pools where he grew up in africa but since he was schooled in america thats rubbish

a lot of my mates that relocated here cant swim either some have asked me to teach them but im worried more harm than good would come from that

    Back on topic....

My man can swim and he gets better everytime we are in the water. I love swimming so he's strongly encouraged to participate - just like I participate in football and the other sports that he likes.

His only issue is that he's so lean he doesn't float at all and works hard to keep a good form. It's actually really cute. He thinks my chest is his personal flotation device. ahahahahahahhaa perhaps TMI....

I used to be a certified lifeguard at a YMCA. Anyone can learn how to swim. Also, you don't have to know how to swim to teach yourself drownproofing techniques. Panic is what usually takes people down.

I'm just as comfortable in water as I am on my feet.

Soo true, sometimes I really have to say that people are as stupid as if they never have seen a school from inside..

you know black skin is previous to water and white people have webbings between their toes..:smt119
