Have you notified the school board about that racist math teacher and all those other racist teachers that screwed over all of those black kids?????

 

A lot of black children come from broken homes or single parent households and this adds to the problem. Things like the importance of education and discipline can go down the tubes in this situation. If the single parent is working 2 jobs, she/he wont be around as much for the kid(s).

Do you think its some conspiracy that the vast majority of Spelling Bee contenders are of Indian or Asian decent??? Of course its not. Asian and Indian families put a TON of emphasis on education/academics. The parents are normally much stricter.

I do agree with you that there are a lot of problems within the public school system but again, you are a bafoon to think thats the only reason why only 47% of black males are graduating high school. A lot of the problems start at home...

Fine by me Chi, put me on ignore if you like, but I actually enjoy your point of view at times. I realize that you can't have any kind of productive discussion when one side is driven primarily by emotion anyway. I always respect your passion even when I don't agree with your position. I wasn't aware that taking sides was required, and I haven't done so. However IMO it's clear that several people seem to have done that to a really inappropriate degree in this thread, and frankly if I wanted support and the only people I could garner that support from were folks who think and express themselves like Nikon and Anten, I'd rather be alone. I can show support for someone without agreeing with them, and I'll just come right out and say I don't think Andrae is fucked up, bipolar, or a moron. I know the two of you got crossways, and clearly that's something you intend to not forget, but that doesn't mean anyone else has to choose a side.
