But what about principals.. and parents.. and education systems.. and standards.. and accountability.... hell, what about morals? WTF? WHO the hell thinks that's acceptable?

Look, I know I live a sheltered little ignorant life all the way over here in Australia... but... I just can't fathom how "acceptable" racism seems to be in the states. I won't ever understand.

It varies from place to place. The people in the suburban community I attended school in when I was younger would not have considered any of that acceptable. They were racist, no doubt, SRSLY racist at the time, but it was the type of community where parents raised hell when laws were broken and rights violated. They would have been shocked by what went on in my high school.

The parents, the community, and the principal all shared the same sense that Black males needed extra "discipline" and approved of whatever was done. Since the Black parents weren't complaining, the White parents didn't care. Since the Black teachers were as bad (and sometimes worse) than the White ones, no one got fired. Everybody acted, all the time, like every Black male student was one bullying away from joining a gang, so bullying of Black male students was smiled upon.

This was the #2 public school in Chicago at the time.

 

Perhaps what is needed are new kinds of schools for black males only. I do not have any idea on what those new kind of schools will have as a program to tailor it's instruction toward the black male, but we need a new revolutionary approach in a magnet, charter or private school to educate the black male to compete with the world. I say by any means necessary to educate the black male on a strong militaristic bases that emphasize discipline to learning and to develop a true warrior/scholar spirit to deal with life. Any ideas?

 

That's not as big of a factor as you and others keep making it out to be. Immigrant children from African and Carribean countries come here and out perform the American black kids by leaps and bounds and they are forced into the same shitty neighborhoods and attend the same shitty schools. American born black kids usually lack discipline and are parented poorly at least in the impoverished areas. I use to teach kids in the projects chess after school. Actually tried is a more accurate statement since it was almost impossible to get some of them to behave long enough to be taught. I won't say it was all the kids it wasn't even most of them but all it takes is a couple of them being disruptive to ruin everyone elses concentration. We have to stop crying victim at every turn and start taking responsibility because there are people of the same complexion coming in and doing way better.
And let me remind you there was a time when black kids were dealing with far worst like Jim Crow and anti civil rights demonstrations where people were getting chased by dogs and they still managed to better than half graduating.

 

Catholic and private schools. Not only did all my friends graduate but everyone went to college and more than half have advanced and professional degrees. We need structure and responsibility but I think the major difference is that the parents who were sending kids to schools like this were very invested and didn't let you slip up.

We get it we understand there is a problem so what's the next step how do we move forward and again people who come here who don't know the language and customs who have the same skin tone are out performing us all so if its all a conspiracy to keep us down how do they manage to perform well. I'll tell you how, they come from parts of the world where living in projects in the worst parts of the Bronx are luxury in comparison to where they are from. They are so happy to have the opportunity to get an education that they don't let petty childish bullshit get in their way. You are a spoiled child, do you have any fucking clue how lucky we are to have the opportunity to learn and socially change our circumstances but we piss it away and cry about how everyone is holding us back and how unfair it is. The school doors aren't closed and as long as you have a pencil and a notebook you have a chance. Whether or not you choose to take the chance is up to you.

I certainly believe they are, however, in my experience, middle schools are the absolute worst. Just the pits. I would rather home school my child than put them in both middle and high schools.
