That sounds bad. It never seems that bad when you and all of your buddies have graduated. The question is what will the parents of the ones who are failing do.

I can personally say I did my job of passing. lol I won't be doing anything else.
I will be helping foster kids get their GED's though.

Pretend? My surprised emotion is real. I don't know any black men that have gone through American high school system that has failed.

I knew the inner cities in a lot of areas were still pretty bad as far as education and poverty goes but the fact that its under 50 percent is disgraceful.

A lot of this falls on the parents and a lack of discipline. If I got bad grades, my mom and dad would bust my chops bigtime.

 

Do the research. In the black community, the black female is given more of a chance to go on to colleges and universities than the black male. It is reason that the black female will have a far greater chance to be successful in this society than the black male. The black female is given the books, the black male is given the basketball.

 

hmmm there may be a point to this. Question is who is giving the basketball.

 

which is why people like Dr Ben Carson are saying stuff like 'kids' (he's a successful neurologist in a predominately white field, so i bet he means "black kids") should focus on academics, rather than trying to be good enough at a sport, to play pro ball. The odds are just not in their favor. You're better off getting accepted into a graduate program than a NFL/NBA team.

I can't wait for the day when people start saying I want to be like Dr. Carson instead of I want to be like mike. lol

People get caught in the glamor, money or fame of Micheal Jordan over Dr. Carson which is ashame.

This statistic is very troubling. I'd rather focus on the solutions to fix this problem instead of talking about how bad it is, but I dint know where to even begin to fix it.
