Have you read the Old Testament lately?? Lots of old men marrying 'young' women, or having multiple wives too.

Muhammad plagiarized the Koran from the Bible anyway, so where do you think he got so many of his crazy ideas from??

Liz Cheney breaks with Bushies over Imam behind "Ground Zero mosque"
As you've probably heard, Republicans are currently attacking the Obama administration for sending Imam Faisal Abdul Rauf, the man behind the "Ground Zero mosque," to the Mideast to discuss life for Muslims in America. The problem with this attack line, as many have noted, is that this Imam was chosen for this program by none other than the Bush administration.

That's absurd enough on its own. But I wanted to highlight another interesting aspect of this: The attack has now been joined by diehard "Ground Zero mosque" opponent Liz Cheney -- whose father, of course, was a fairly high level member of the administration that originally sent the Imam to the Middle East for the same reason the Obama administration is now doing.

The program in question is run by the State Department, which is sending the Imam on a speaking tour designed to explain to Muslims abroad what life is like as a Muslim in the United States. Republican officials such as Pete King have blasted the program. But the State Department has defended the move by reiterating that the Imam is well known for his "work on tolerance" and his "moderate perspective" -- and that the Bush administration sponsored a similar speaking tour.

Now Liz Cheney's group, Keep America Safe, has responded, blaring on its Website that the State Department "ignores facts" if it thinks the Imam is a "moderate." It has also posted links to criticism of the move and approvingly posted video of a Fox News anchor hectoring a State Department official over the move:

Amusingly enough, members of the administration presided over by Liz's father, such as Karen Hughes, included this Imam in administration programs designed to improve relations with Muslim countries.

The Cheney wing of the Bush administration, of course, was always further to the right than other administration insiders on national security matters involving relations with Muslim countries. So in a sense it's not surprising that Liz would break with Bushies over this.

But what's key here is that the Cheneyite position is now the mainstream Republican one. The Cheneyite world view has supplanted that of the more moderate Repubican national security establishment -- not to mention that of many Bushies, who maintained that good relations with Islam is a desirable goal. The Cheneyites set the tone for the stances of many Republicans in high-profile national security political fights.

The "mosque" is actually called "Park 51".

Here is the proposed location on a map:

And here are some of the current neighbors already located on "Hallowed Ground":

I see that a lot people posted something about the area and how far the Mosque would actually be from ground zero and what posters on here seem to over look is its not just the proximity but the fucking insensativity. Its not like they're being told they can't worship somewhere else just please out of the respect not there. That's all. And I have to also point out for some of you who aren't from this area its down right annoying that some of you are in favor of this shit and are defending it but don't live anywhere near here. I purposely stayed of the Chicago IR dating thread because what the fuck would I know about that and felt it wasn't my place to post about it and I think the same respect should apply here. Don't tell me New Yorkers should just let them have their mosque and stop complaining. When people start flying planes into buildings near where you live killing friends and family members that you know personally then you might have a platform to speak on but till then show a little sensativity.

Again. What you fail to grasp is that these people are NOT responsible in any way for 9/11. In fact, the people who are behind this center belong to a liberal sect of Islam that is reviled by Al-Qaeda.

As I've said repeatedly, this whole thing is about reactionary bigotry. Here's a video of a black carpenter being harassed by a group of people protesting the "mosque" this weekend for simply walking in close proximity to them.

I hope the people who are here regurgitating the anti-"mosque" talking points on this issue realize that this is the side that you're on.

So basically you're of the suck it up and deal with it crowd?
We're suppose to show tolerance and acceptance but I guess its too much to expect the same of those want to build this mosque. They can hide behind their "peaceful" religion but those of us who think its in poor taste to build it there are bigots. It basically boils down to one thing. They don't care about how we feel so why should we care about how they feel? They can build a mosque anywhere they want but they choose to build it in a place that will cause the most contraversy and will illicit violence not only on those who want to worship in peace but innocent by standers. The KKK has the right to build their headquarters anywhere they want but even they won't build it near a burned church or next door to the NAACP because it doesn't make sense to.

Look, you can make this analogy as many times as you want, but it's still absurd. What's going on here is tantamount to the NAACP protesting the construction of any building owned by a white person next to a black church out of the mistaken belief that all white people belong to hate groups or sympathize with them and thus are responsible for all of the heinous acts that Klansmen have committed in the past.

Islam didn't destroy the World Trade Center, Al-Qaeda did.

No matter how many times you make that horse shit arguement it still eludes from the fact that people who are demanding tolerance of us don't want to do the same in return. We're just suppose to suck it up and deal with it no matter how we feel about it.

Again, you're making a generalization about all Muslims. Did you even bother to read the link or watch the video that I provided about Sufism?

Not all Muslims are bad or hate America. Al Qeida is the problem. Al Qeida isn't building a mosque NEAR Ground Zero,Muslims are...

Just like the mosque built at the Pentagon in 2002 that hasn't had any problems from Muslims, Christians, military, relatives of victims, etc was *built by Muslims who are NOT affiliated with Al Qeida...

There are people of Muslim descent dying every day over in Iraq trying to fight Al Qeida. *The people signing up to become police to protect their streets are under constant attack.

I don't think people can differentiate between the 2 factions, or maybe they just don't want to?

I know the KKK is a form of Christianity, but I also know how to differentiate them from the likes of Joel Olsteen and Joyce Meyer also.

In other words, if the KKK wanted to build a sanctuary next to my house, hel yeah I'd be upset. But if it were Joyce Meyer I'd have no trouble with it.

Differentiate between the 2 factions *It's not that hard to do.

If you want to, that is...

SMDH..that wasn't what I had in mind as an example of an Anti-Mosque protest...that looked more like an Anti-Negro rally from the 60s....I think I even heard someone say 'nigger.' I know I heard someone say 'Oh he musta voted for Obama'
