Why don't you people ever leave your names after giving negative rep.

For the record, I'm an agnostic. I don't particularly care for organized religion. Islam is included in that sentiment. I just think that this is a non-story that's been elevated into the national debate because of anti-Muslim sentiment nationwide that's turning into a bogus wedge issue going into the elections. This is just another ridiculous corporate media distraction to keep people from noticing that the corporations and power elite in this country are destroying the middle class and stuffing their pockets while they pick America clean.

There are much more important things to argue about.

People will never see it. All they see is a Black man in the White House. I still come across morons who think Obama's gonna pay off all their bills.

Even Reid the Senate Majority leader opposes Mosque at Ground Zero. Sure he is desperate for reelection, but he came out opposing Obama's view on this, and that does not look good for Obama. Get it together BO b4 America votes you out of the white house.

Yeah, sure man. I'm still waiting for a clear explanation of what exactly this building is supposed to "symbolize" if antipathy towards Muslims and the alleged culpability of Islam for the 9/11 attacks are removed from the equation.

    Absolutely deplorable idea.

Yes, technically they have the "right" to build a mosque there (or a Muslim cultural center as they are calling it:roll:) but if they had ANY commonsense and decency they wouldnt do this.

Honestly, how out of touch do you have to be to understand that this is insanely tasteless.
A lot of these Muslims just dont get it. They have a LOT of nerve to be doing this imo.

And where is the money coming from?? 100 million dollars just doesnt pop out of the sky. I would hope the feds will investigate the paper trail.

There is an online petition going around demanding a gay bar to be put right next to the mosque. How funny would that be? lol
I'd like to see how "tolerant" those idiot muslims would be then.

Then Reid should be fired. He promised an oath to protect and follow the constitution. Obama was only supporting the constitution. He screwed up by not saying that. He allowed for it to be interpreted as him being for the mosque.

Look Obama is no longer U of C law school Constitutional professor, he is a poltician know. He has to get with American ppl to get things done. Getting mixed up with Mosque stuff is ridiculous. What is next? He is gonna have a beer summit with 9/11 family? He is got a job to do:

    1.Unemployment
    2.Border control
    3.Education
    4.Healthcare
    5.Economy
    5.Two wars

Enough with getting mix up with minor stuff. The honey moon is over. I am getting disappointed with this guy. I voted for him, donated money to his campaign and campaigned for the guy, get it together BO.

I agree he should have said nothing about this. This isn't a national problem or even a state wide problem. It is a New York City problem. The mayor weighed in and the mosque is coming.

Thank you Andrae. That's EXACTLY it.

Yes, agreed, there are WAY MORE IMPORTANT things to be arguing/debating about. You seem to have made it your personal agenda to make anyone who is opposed to this as anti-Muslim. That's NOT the case, and I thank you for not making me appear like I am anti-Muslim.

As I've stated, I don't agree with them doing it. I won't ever say they can't. But I don't agree with it. The last time I checked, I am an American citizen and have a right to agree or disagree with things going on in my country. That doesn't make me a bigot. That doesn't make me anti-Muslim. I'm exercising my right to disagree with the decision.

    Let's just agree to disagree.

Right. You're not a bigot. You just think that bigots who are having an irrational knee jerk response to the substanceless attacks on this building and everyone involved with its construction should be appeased by denying these people their rights. The media truly frightens me. I guarantee you that if they hadn't hyped this non-story, most people wouldn't have known or cared about "The Ground Zero Mosque" just like they don't know or care about the mosque that already exists in close proximity to the spot where the WTC used to be.

    So yeah, agree to disagree.

Not ONCE did I ever say that they shouldn't be allowed their rights. I don't agree with what they're doing, but I have never said they shouldn't. I think it's in poor taste, but like I've said, it's their Constitutional rights to do it.

Seriously, stop getting your knickers knotted. You're making a mountain out of a molehill.

None of y'all jive turkeys responded to me the 1st time, so I'm gonna ask my original questions again, you bastards...lol

This is what Obama said about the mosque issue:

"As a citizen, and as president, I believe that Muslims have the same right to practice their religion as anyone else in this country," Obama said to applause at an event attended by diplomats from Islamic countries and members of the U.S. Muslim community.

"That includes the right to build a place of worship and a community center on private property in lower Manhattan, in accordance with local laws and ordinances..."

    http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/38699741/ns/politics

Where in that quote did he say he was in favor of the mosque? Am I reading this wrong?

My next point is the mayor of New York (Michael *Bloomberg,) many religious organizations IN NYC and the agency that came up with the idea live in the city.

If people are going to get upset, they should talk to the people of NYC who approved this idea, not Obama.

But it seems that everybody is mad at Obama as if he not only originated the idea, but he spearheaded the campaign to make this a reality.

Is anybody mad at Mayor Bloomberg, or they're just focused on Obama?

If obama came out & said he wasn't a fan of the idea would they scrap the idea? I don't think so because he wasn't part of the plan to create it in the first place...

And lastly, was Obama asked his opinion on the mosque? I don't have any proof, but I'm pretty sure a reporter (or 2) asked him his opinion about it because he is the President of the U.S...

Do we really think he wasn't asked to comment on this?

And if they DID ask him, what was he gonna do, say "no comment?"

How many people would be up in arms if he said THAT? Probably the same people who are mad at him now...
