Lebron was going to go to Chicago with Bosh, until the Chicago front office ruined it by telling him they couldn't promise his people jobs and regular access like they were getting in Cleveland. All of this according to Brian Windhorst of the Cleveland Plain Dealer. That's when the Miami joint became more of an option.

As I've stated in previous posts, I don't think the new crew will fare as bad as people think they will. I know a lot of people are actively rooting against them - fair enough, there always needs to be a villainous bully in sports a la Lakers, Yankees, Patriots etc - but I have to at least admit that they are definitely contenders, if nothing. Yes, they are lacking solid big men and genuine perimeter defensive pets except Dwayne Wade, but I think their team is good enough to get them at least 55 regular season wins, if not more. I still fancy the Celtics or an outside Orlando chance of coming out of the East, but who knows what ol' Pat might get up to before the trade deadline? Remember the Lakers' 2007-2008 season? with Kobe famously declaring a trade? Bynum made a breakthrough before getting hurt, and they got Pau Gasol at a fire sale. Now, Pat is no Mitch Kupchak, but I still always expect him to have a few tricks up his sleeve. So stay tuned.

LeBron is, supposedly, fiercely loyal to his friends. Which is believable, considering he put like 2 of them through college and let them manage him.

Supposedly, Chicago was trying to establish to Lebron that they aren't a player's organization, no jobs and perks for his friends and all that.

LBJ is very entrenched here in Akron. However, what hurts Cleveland affects us too.

I'm actually more dissappointed that he willingly forfeited a legacy of being mentioned along with 'Air' Jordan and even Kobe - to go be LePippen...WTF?

The greats just don't do that. I just don't get it.

Its not ego its pure competitive nature. I'm competitive and I just don't have it in me to take the easy way out. Winning becomes meaningless. I'm hoping his plan is to make a lot of money like you said because the respect is pretty much gone.

Yeah in a honorable way though. The greats we all admire never took the easy way out infact they took the harder road and that's why we admire them so much. Like Ali could have stuck to boxers easy to beat to keep his title as long as possible but he went up against boxers that were stronger than him and still won. Jordan didn't have the most talented team in the league but he lead those guys to six championships. Taking the easy way out is what true losers do. How you win matters way more than if you win in sports.

 

EXACTLY!! Dan Gilbert gets criticized for not 'surrounding him with talent'......THAT'S BULLSHIT! That dude was willing to give his left nut to get who LBJ wanted...and frankly, LBJ's cast was more talented than it gets credit for.

Jordan elevated guys who were even more pedestrian than LBJ's teammates.

A champion doesn't abandon his ship for an easier path. Competitors don't respect that.

And all due respect to Miami, but ONE championship in Cleveland is worth more than 6 in Miami. That dude would be immortalized by just winning one here.

The Midwest is extremely passionate about sports, particularly football, but he owned Ohio. He could veto state legistlation if he wanted.

Well, Cleveland's problem was their system, and I think that was on Mike Brown.

Their whole game plan consisted of "give the ball to Lebron at the top of the key, and then play off of what he does". Over time, they became completely reliant on him. Whenever he scores under 25, they lose, every time.

They would've done better this year with the new coach they got (Byron Scott).

 

How is that any different from the get the ball to Jordan strategy that got the Bulls 6 championships. The Cavs actually won 66 games with that also.

 

That's very legit. However, I will agree, even though I like Brown, once his Assistant Coach left last season, he was completely lost on how to rotate his roster.

Nonetheless, if you're LeBron, those are the obstacles you overcome if you want to be considered in the same conversation with your idol (Jordan).

 

That works until you run into a slow, defensive grind team like the Celtics in a 7 game series, where they have time to adjust and strategize. That's why they won Games 1 and 3, but after that the Celtics had figured LeBron out, and won 3 straight.

Don't forget the "Jordan Rules" that the Pistons used to use, that worked for like 3 or 4 straight years. Where they solely focused on getting the ball out of Jordan's hands, and knocked the Bulls out of the playoffs, repeatedly. He couldn't get past them until Pippen came into himself.
