Should Ebonics be classified a language like French and Italian?

    It wasnt Funny.

Humorous means funny. Didnt see anyone jumping up and saying LOL, like they normally do when something is funny...

It was merely a mis-communication. No harm, no foul.

No, Madiba, I don't agree that Ebonics should be its own language.

I view it more like pidgin english.

    Granted.

And IF this were a TRULY Enlightened and Sophisticated Society Overall....most people WOULD view it as such..

But most people...aided and abetted, as ever, by the Mass Media...CAN and WILL think that just because a microcosm of our society speaks & enunciates like that....that EVERYBODY of said ethnicity (or damned well near everybody) speaks like that.

    There is no escaping it.

And that's th' name of THAT tune...as Robert Blake would say...

man...you really think if a teacher says "ok don't do this in my classroom" that it would actually make the kids learn???????

For one thing, attempting to force anything on kids generally just makes them want to do the opposite. Not only would it make the kids do it more often just to piss off the teacher, but even if the teacher were able to control something as uncontrollable as the speech of others they'd just find something else to occupy their attention other than the school work.

You can't make kids learn jack shit. I mean, the whole idea that Ebonics is to blame for kids not learning English is kind of absurd. You want the kids to learn to speak better then kick their damn parents until they teach them proper language as babies. *rmfe* Or make their parents turn OFF the bad influences the kids submerge themselves in...you know, the shit the parents use to raise their children so they don't have to?

Man, making Ebonics a language (which it is not...it is a slang, maybe even a dialect, but not a language) just so you can in turn ban it is pointless. If that's the whole aim, why not just ban the fucking slang in the first place????

"Children, stop fucking around and speak properly!"

There, that's pretty much what you're trying to get done, so just go tell all the teachers to try it and see how quickly it works.

Seriously though, isn't it ironic that this malt liquor is named after a gun?

    I'm surprised we haven't seen a 50oz liquor yet.

colt 45? A .45 caliber pistol otherwise known as Colt 1911 , issued to servicemen for its improvement in stopping power and other attributes over contemporary pistols, that is still in use today in various parts of society.

works everytime? maybe a reference to the reliability and lethality of the 1911 pistol. maybe the colt45 beverage is just as effective in performing a function or role, as the handgun is.

Maybe the bottom line here is to kill........perhaps not to take a life, but to kill a generation.

    /end conspiracy theory
