I'm not saying that he got what he deserved (i dont think anyone deserves to die like that) or anything like that, but if you're an emergency responder, you just gotta put lunch on hold in a situation like that. I have skipped or put off lunch for lesser things....

 

He was tested, and failed.

 

Not a believer of karma but man this was a disaster all around. three people died. Just terrible.

 

Reminds me of one of those 'logic' questions, you come across when taking the ASVAB. There really is no way to prepare for them, you just 'know' the right answer or you don't. In this case, his question was.

Imagine yourself as an EMT for the FDNY. While at lunch, during a hard day of work, you come across a pregnant woman, possibly dying from complications. What do you do?

A)Stop lunch and see how you can be of any assistance

B)Continue to eat lunch and recommend they call the Fire Department

C)Ignore the situation



ok ok, maybe they have some preparation for this one, during EMT indoctrination. Something along the lines of ethics, duty, and morality.

 

Fuck it. I'll say it. What goes around comes around, mufucka. When you have a job like this, there shouldn't be any breaks where somebody can say, "Sorry, too busy to help you survive". The fuck was dude thinkin'? Well, he ain't enjoying his lunch now. RIP to the dead woman. Don't feel too bad about the dude, even if the shooting was a little excessive, but fuck it. Rest in Piss to that dude who didn't do his fucking job. No more lunch break for you. Asshole.

Reminds me of the scene from Brooklyn's Finest (SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER) when Harrison Ford totally ignores a man being forceful with a woman, right next to the building he was about to go into. He was off-duty (he portrays a cop in the film), looked at the situation, and decided not to do anything. When he goes back to work, he sees the woman's FACE on the MISSING PERSONS board.

he does get a second chance in life tho, and decides to save her and her friends later in the movie. But this aint a movie and that EMT doesn't get a mulligan.

 

Haven't watched that movie yet. It's on my hard drive, right now. I'll read this post after I watch the movie.
