Andrae I agree with you, if R. Kelly would have raped a 17 yr white girl that was a day away from her 18th birthday the media would have made it seem like R. Kelly was molesting infants. But I think that girl knew exactly what she was doing. When I was 14 yrs old you could not convince me to stand there and let you pee on me. He did not rape her. To me rape is when you force yourself on another person sexually and what I saw in that tape and I did not see him force anything. People try to use the "a teenage girl can be taken advantage of by a grown man" or "she is naive" angle but I don't buy it. Well by law it was statutory rape even though they were 1 or 2 yrs apart. Even though I agree that was messed up it is still the law. But I think the law should be dropped to 16 with context taking into account. Obviously if a 40 yr old man shows up at 8th grade school dance and picks a random girl and tells her I will kill your mother if you don't have sex with me, then he should be sent to jail. But if a girl lies to a man about her age or pursues a man that she knows that is well over a the legal age then I don't think the man should be punished on rape charges.
