Andrae I think this was a good discussion. I think in the end when the results were tabulated the women just don't care enough about darkness to turn away a good man based on his skin tone.

    ahem, people? Archangel?
Can we please notice that all black guys are actually "brown" or "maroon" or anyway a mix between black, red and yellow that get different proportions? (talking about colors, not ppl).

;-) So why say that we leave the brown guys out? Have you actually ever seen a BLACK person? LOL

    :smt081

**SuperChic, just didn't feel like go back on the thread and look for Archangel's post, so I quoted you. :)

That wasn't about that, I don't mind expressing if I like darker or lighter bla bla bla. I was just making you all notice that a BLACK, really BLACK person, never existed. Hence, you guys are all BROWN. :smt042 (that was some african children correcting me: I'm brown, not black! And my cousins are brown too! and you are pink! Aww, so cute!)

I suggest to rename this site pinkwomenbrownmen.com

This is a very sensitive issue, especially in America, but for the sake of Andrae, I've dated the spectrum, but I've always liked milk chocolate or somewhere in between.

LOL, yeah it is sensitive and ritefully so depending on the convo. so when i saw the thread i was slightly offended but i pulled back

you have to understand that during slavery and until recently at least the 80's light skinned blacks were looked upon as superior than dark skinned blacks. that is why the blacks are sensitive about it.

the old statement kind of goes if you are lite skinned then lite bright damn near white. if you are black then step back.

it has the superiority thang to it. lite skinned were favored more because they equated it to being smarter and better looking than the dark skinned. that is why the animosity when it is brought to the black community

Yeah but its long over due that we just get over it. Especially black people. We as a culture have fought to be recognized as equals despite our skin tone but have the nerve to do the very same to each other. Its tired and old. Its a different world or at least let's make it that way.

I'm probably not the one to speak on this, but I disagree with you. I can't see Black folks getting over that. The ills of skin tone are deep seeded. With that, comes a lot of pain and hurt. When you have a friend who's dark skinned and having men say shit like, you're pretty for a dark skinned girl or when you have some dark skinned folks looking down light skinned people as viewing them as weak cause I guess they have less melanin. I could go on about what I've heard, but like I said, it's not really my place to talk about this. I just don't think it's right to just "get over it". We're talking about several generations of this.

it is your place to say....you are correct in that it is hard to get over it. we have to get over it and to do that we have to reaffirm each other their beauty and value. soem people however dont know how to appreaciate themselves

I still think that some LS Blacks believe they are superior on a certain level. Thats a legacy of slavery, Its ingrained. The present society we live in doesn't do much to combat this notion

Thank you, but being that I'm not Black, so I don't think so.

It's hard to appreciate yourself when you have others telling you differently. Sometimes you can't draw self esteem or self love when you never had any.

    Amen!

I'm agreeing with you a lot today Raul...lol

Yes it is your place to talk about IB we're all fucking human beings and this race shit is all made up anyway. You're not gay but I'm sure if the topic was being gay in the military you'd try to sympathize. The ills of skin tone only affect you has long as you let it. Its time we start pushing forward and stop wallowing in self pity. I'm always the darkest one out of my friends and even my family but it doesn't bug me at all. Sure it did when I was younger when kids called me tar baby and whole bunch of other things but I'm so happy for the experience. I get to see shit most don't like this is all made up and we need to make up some new shit. Btw the longer we as people think that there are some things that some people can talk about and others can't we will always be divided. Why shouldn't a white person be able to talk about race? We are all one race.
