True but we live in a superficial material world and I don't see why we have to be so sensative about it. To be honest I am low man on the totem pole because I am pretty much darker than everyone else but I don't see myself that way. Being dark has given me invaluable perspective and it allows me to detach from my ego. So if a person a preference for light skin over dark it doesn't phase me. So I don't get the overall sensativity about it

I don't understand why some guys should get all sensitive about that.
Some black guys like blondes or brunettes or tanned-skin ladies or pale ladies... I don't undertand why we can't have a preference and talk about it?

We all know that we might like somebody who's completely different from our "claimed" preference, but it's just conversation, right?

Drop the RACE thing and enjoy some convo, geez. :smt012

    I concur, Compadre.

Therre's at least *two* White female Yanks, and 1 Aussie gal that I know that'd *vehemently* disagree with the 'low on the totem pole' bit of which you opine...

I know this for a fact, as one of the two American girls (Both from Omaha) has as MANY pics of Dennis Haysbert ("The Unit", "Far From Heaven") & Seal as she could find plastered all over her boudoir walls.

As for the Aussie gal - she & Mellisa had a conversation about same...and Mellisa was told (quote) 'even though your husband is good-lookin' as hell...I don't get into the meduim tan complexion like you do, I guess. I prefer the really dark *really* Africanised features myself' (unquote)

And it *must* be stressed that all 3 gals were *very* attractive, fair-complexioned and *well-built*......if you know what I mean.................................................

Granted it *isn't* the mindset of The General Populace.

Just my tuppence on There's An Exception To Every So-Called "Rule" in life.

Dude you're right. I know there are girls who prefer someone of my complexion but this isn't something I found out until about two years ago I think. For the majority of my life I always saw the distaste bw had for guys with darker skin especially when it came to dating. It probably fueled my attraction for white girls that much more because yeah they saw me as black but not dark skinned if that makes sense. Truthfully for the better part of my adult years I've always seen it as an advantage because I knew I didn't have any superficial attributes to rely on so it made me work hard and most of all it fueled my intelligence and my thirst for knowledge.

There are plenty of women here that don't agree with that 'low man on the totem pole' assessment for Andrae either. However I think he wasn't speaking personally but more from a societal perspective?

I kinda sorta forgot about Yaphett Kotto ("Alien")

Born in Cameroon, he emigrated to The States with his family as a young lad.

He was turned down, jeered at, and picked on over *his* dark complexion by......Black female classmates & neighbours (EXCLUSIVELY!!!!!!) all throughout his growing-up years. He now lives with a White wife (has done so for decades now) and is *very* happy.

I'm *not* surprised at the turns his life made. Are *you*?

Not at all which is why I don't get why bw are surprised by my preference. It was developed during my formative years and you expect me to overlook it now as an adult. Fuck that I'm sticking with who has accepted me with open arms since day one.

I don't think so. At least I hope not, but I could be wrong.

Yes, that is what has happen when people in pro black forums ask the question. It starts fights. I have to say though. Women are allowed to talk about thin average thick curvy fat obese I believe so it is a bit fair.

Somewhere in this wide, wide cyberuniverse there's a forum/message board that's got a topic like this....no-holds barred, knock down, drag out....with *its* name on it.

    Somewhere................

I don't see why it has to result in an argument instead of a discussion? We're all adults here, and as such we should be able to discuss this without getting bent out of shape with each other. If it's a topic that you don't want to discuss, just exit the thread. I'm with ThickShawty and Andrae on this one.

I also don't think the men on here debate women's shapes. They post pics of all shapes and sizes and IMO they're very complimentary of a wide range of physical characteristics. But it wouldn't bother me if they did, everyone's entitled to their own opinions and to like what they like.

That isn't reality. Adults still fight like children on a lot of things. oh well this forum seemed to go find.

Yes they do, hence the term childish. I expect people to defend what they believe in, vigorously if necessary, I just don't think it has to take the form of fighting. If you don't agree with me, tell me so, it's not going to piss me off, if anything it just makes me curious to learn more about your point of view.
