Humor is a good tool for bringing up sensitive topics and having conversations about them. It helps ease people into it who are otherwise uncomfortable with openly talking about these types of discussions. I think it helps to promote healthy discussions and opening people up to things that they would otherwise not see or not want to see.
the clip is in poor taste and perpetuates a stereotype...the very sad thing is that some white women may actually flinch or hold their purse tighter and closer to their body everytime they see a black man
Nah, I think you're reading too much into it. It's clearly a joke and his facial expressions alone make it clear that this is not meant to be taken seriously. Breathing humor into a stereotype isn't always such a bad thing. It helps to break down barriers.
nah, i don't think so...the clip looks bad on him and for black men...the clip looks bad on her and for white women...i am actually surprised at the reaction in this thread because if blacgrl had posted it or some troll everyone here would have had the OP on a skewer over hot coals... just because it is the webmaster doesn't mean i have to agree with it fyi, if the highway patrol isn't doing the speed limit or at least 5 over i will not tail him and stay behind...lippy drives right on by him
Whatever. We'll agree to disagree. If I spent my entire life getting offended by every joke I ever heard or saw a video of making fun of the Irish, Catholics, being short, or having big boobs, I'd be spending my life being pretty miserable. FYI, I'd be laughing at this video if it was a white guy, too. Why? Because the concept of a woman hiring a man to scare her into getting into shape is pretty funny, in my opinion. Life it too short to take everything so seriously.
Again I agree with you Bookie. He actually made a good point too when he mentioned single women out doing stuff they shouldn't be doing, like jogging alone at night. I see entirely too many women off by themselves not paying any attention at all to their surroundings, and that's just asking for trouble IMO.
i guess you have not ever actually dated a black man and had people act differently when he is around...just go to the grocery store and take your black man with you and watch the women pick their handbags up out of the cart and put them over their shoulders...unless you have lived it...you won't understand it...
because it is sooo silly, i am not mad at the joke, myself. i think for comedy though, this is dumb late. woulda been funny on like In Living Color 20 years ago. now, it just seems corny. lol
