lippy is short...you know that...actually the plan is working...after meeting with all of his teachers i came up with this incentive...i also should let you know i took away any other way for him to make money...closed the purse strings to everything except his monthy bus pass and putting money on his lunchmoney.com account...no more allowance...chores are just chores with no additional payment...no extra off campus lunch money...in high school it's not cool to eat at school so all of a sudden money had a new meaning...

thanks...his teachers liked it too...when they started to get completed homework assignments

 

how is that formula different? ooooooo trust me it's working...he did not have a good start to the year...he would have been in the negative...in fact the first 6 weeks he came out in the positive i made him back pay me for the previous 6 weeks...

 

actually my son is very smart...he never studies and tests out with A & Bs...never took a book home...hears it once...done...he wouldn't do his homework and that was killing his grades...he loves to read and does great in discussion format but turning in homework assignments was just too much trouble

I don't know what you have tried Lip, knowing you, I'm assuming you have tried a number of things/approaches. I wasn't a very good student in middle school for the same reason that your son is having trouble, my mother tried the money & gifts, but what ended up working with me was her taking me to work & the likes to show me that hmk was just "admin work"/ or paper work that everyone had to do. I started understand that it wasn't ideas, and quality that always got you somewhere in school, but the fact that your demonstrating that you can spend time on work, can complete tasks, along with understanding....blah blah, you feel me.

 

you offering:heart:i couldn't resist...9th grade was tough and this isn't middle school...they are in high school with the 10,11 & 12th graders...he has a friend that is in all honors classes and gets straight As...then some not doing as well as he is...he sits way too comfortably in the middle...i am hoping for a better start to 10th grade...this is when it starts to count...he is going to have to really put in some effort

thanks fresh...it's taxing as well as frustrating...he likes to negotiate so we both do a presentation and then compromise...i want him to do well but i can't do it for him...i have been better about making a huge deal out of his victorys and just give him that disappointed please try harder next time chat...i also am more agreeable to outside activities and fun if he is holding up his end of the bargain...i don't give up!

no...he received just $10.00 for each C...I took back $25.00 for the D and paid him $50.00 for each A...that looks like this in bmj style

when he is working his butt off on a concrete crew this summer for a friend's dad making $7.00 an hour all of a sudden working harder in school makes more sense...trust me...he does not want to be making $7.00 an hour for the rest of his life
