wow, i haven't a clue. i am wrong every tournament. lol would be nice if it is a cinderella team (usa?! lol) but that is highly unlikely. it will be an ancient powerhouse as usual.

 

Its funny adidas are claiming goal keepers are going to be happy with the new grip, when they are all complaining about it.Adidas marketing team working over time..Lol.

 

I went for England and Spain, but I am starting too doubt England, because their warm up games leading to the tournement were not that great. Brazil will have say, as they always do..and the Spanish side is the best Spanish side I have ever seen.

You got a point, a lot of players being tried out. But I was still a little disappointed by Englands perfomance against Japan.

You know I was watching some football show, and they were discussing when USA play the Mexico at home they have be carefull where they play them, because it sometime ends up being Mexico being like the home team.They ended up playing mexico in Columbus ohio, because there were less latinos there..lol.

 

More worried about everyone getting injured to be honest! Rio Ferdinand is a key player for us and without him, I have doubts. Plus he's an excellent captain, whereas Stevie G has the charisma of a sock.

Right now the biggest story of the 2010 World Cup is not who will be there but who will not. American fans are focused on Rio Ferdinand and Charlie Davies, but the rest of Africa is focused on Chelsea striker Didier Drogba. Although he has yet to be completely ruled out for the tournament due to a broken elbow, no single star means more to this tournament than Drogba.

 

True, primarily because Ivory coast are the strongest African team, and they could actually get really far in the tournemnet. South Africa on the other hand may well embarass themselves..

 

that's true for USA vs south american teams. when they play matches here in dc at rfk stadium there is always more latinos than born-americans.

as far as the warm-up matches go... we were discussing this at the bar last night... did you know most of the matches are being played like dumb early in the morning there. so it fits with most of the world's times to view it. some matches are at like 2am south african time. so my theory (and i could be wrong) is the warm-ups for a lot of teams are just to get their legs accustomed to the times and conditions. once the real play begins, players will be going all out. but who really knows. lol

You're right Tarshi, I should have suggested that anyone can root for their home team!

As far as the ball and scoring, I would like to see them expand the goal by one foot on each side to increase the scoring a bit.

Other changes I'd like to see to make soccer a bit more appealing:
- longer halftime with a show
- liberalized substitutions
- get some hot cheerleaders

 

can they combine suggestions 1 + 3 also? lol
