Regardless, what I say about British Black people is right..Americans dont have to be in the equation for it to be true.

    The End.

Next time, if you want to make comments about what we should be teaching our "Black children", if those messages are strictly for UK parents, please give a heads up.

Some of us are taking the prospect of raising Black children very seriously, even if we are just lowly North Americans.

Erm, its up to the individual to ascertain if its relevant to them. I wouldnt like to say the UK, because some of the points may be relevant to Americans too.

    LMAO

Honestly, I think you have a good argument lil'madiba. However it is your communication/presentation skills that are horrendous. But this is not surprising to me in the least, because I know youve been racially baiting for no reason. I mean, evryody knows the black community has problems (most communities do) and you are 80% correct, to an extent but you have never provided a passionate or logical explanation for the problem, that i know of, all you do is piss people off with your seemingly self hating behaviors

To me the main problem in this regard isn’t necessarily young black males, or their tendensies to neglect their families, nor their supposed habits of not marrying the mothers of their children. The fact is that young black males in their late teens to 30’s hardly see marriage as a necessity. Getting married isn't obligatory to have kids (these days). You can live together without being married. Marriage is almost seen as something only people rich folks do etc. So the majority of them employ these mechanisms (attitude) to ignore the responsibilities and commitments of marrying the mothers of their children. A number of social variables help make these perceptions even more reasonable:

    1. The younger and often poor(er) generation of BLACK mostly derive from a legacy of one parent households. This is a known fact atleast in the states, the fact is that stable marriages within the black(American)community is NOT the norm. They are used to it.
    2. Wedlock births in African American communities have sky rocketed over the years. Young men feel it is not their obligation to marry a woman with kids from a previous relationship. In most cases we are talking three or more kids. Therefore the woman is left in the cold, for many, many years
    3. Jail. Given the fact that many young black males are in prison (lets stick to facts), it is unsurprising that there will is a great amount of children without a father figures. This is made even worse when these criminals are legally restricted from seeing their children (should they wish to see their kids during parole or w/e)

So yeah Madiba has a point, and we cant trick ourselves into believing that out-of-wedlock births are only a problem in the UK; or that there is a larger proportion of absentee dadies in the UK than there are in the states.

    Will leave it at that.

No, please don't spread your inferior male statesmen on over here. We already have enough problems over here, as Nikon mentioned, with oily pelicans and the like.

You know, if you had just accepted my first post, on the first page of this thread, instead of insisting over and over that I was wrong, you wouldn't have to be backpedaling on page 11 about how it still applies to UK Black Men, regardless of the United States. For ten pages, you used Obama and "Black church leaders" and other random opinion to insist that the Coley study was bullshit. Now you're saying it doesn't matter because it was about UK Black Men anyway. Eleven pages later.

With all the talk in this thread about "reality" and "denial", you are suggesting that it is appropriate to recommend teaching young boys a mythology about their own race & gender's parental history, a mythology that will be damaging to their self image but far more importantly is NOT supported by any factual foundation. And then you suggest that it is okay to recommend teaching this to all young Black boys because it may be true for some in some countries, even if it isn't in others. There's no study to prove that it is in other countries, but the only study available applies to the United States, so it *might* still be true elsewhere, so by all means, lets teach ALL young Black boys special lessons about fatherhood.

No. I can't cosign that. I'm in favor of teaching children the truth, even if it is uncomfortably positive.

You quickly went off the deep end. You really need to learn to make your arguments in a more dispassionate manner.

Actually lil'madiba, your opening post are not YOUR words but those of Tupac Shakur's aunt. Im not saying youre not smart, but clearly your debating skills are close to nil.

Assata Shakur (pacs aunt) published that very document in the october 93 copy of ebony male mag, on page 56.

    http://www.assatashakur.org/forum/w...ell-our-sons-about-being-black-men-today.html

    So yeah, there ya go.

Although I agree with you/her on this topic, dont let your head get too big nigra

First of all that site doesnt believe in WhitewomenBlackmen unions. Its a really Pro - Black site. Also, the article is what I believe. I agree with 90% of it.

And if you look close enough I have removed most of the parts that reference the article to the USA..Its easily applicable to the UK.

And Its not a case of getting big headed, but my debating skills are good.
I have shut you up on several occasions..

And do you even know what thinking on your feet is??? It means being able to think and answer questions immediately.

    An example:
React quickly, be mentally agile, as in Reporters bombarded him with difficult questions, but Bill was very good at thinking on his feet.

    So there...
