You will never be happy if you continue to search for what happiness consists of. You will never live if you are looking for the meaning of life.

This isn't really a quote, but I thought that it was thought provoking so I decided to share.

    Waiting

In the hustle and bustle of today’s world, how come our entire life is spent waiting and wishing? We wish we were somewhere else, doing something else, with someone else. We are always waiting to grow up, waiting to move out, to be on our own, waiting to find that special person, waiting for work to be over, waiting for vacation to get here, and waiting for the results of the tests. And when these things finally happen we find other things “we can’t wait for.” We can’t wait for the weekend. We can’t wait to get married, to start a family, to take that trip to Europe. We can’t wait for our kids to grow up, to go play golf the next day. We can’t wait to retire. We spend our whole lives wishing it away. Can’t we ever just be content with the here and now, learn to appreciate what we have right this minute, not taking this breath we are taking for granted and not looking to the future for anything other than motivation in the present. We need to make the best of this moment right now. Whatever happened to the wise Latin saying, “carpe diem” – seize the day, not sit around and wait and hope and dream. Afterall, dreams are not handed to you, dreams become reality after hard work and thoughtful preparation. The reality of things is that most of us will probably still spend most of our time waiting and wishing. But maybe just for one moment that time will come when we sit back, take a deep breath, be thankful for what we have, try not to wish our lives away and actually take in the greatness of this gift, this moment in time. Seems like there is always a countdown to something we think is greater, but what could we be overlooking right now?

That's an excellent reminder GG. Many people seem to be always waiting and searching. I think contentment and peace are rare, and that's unfortunate. But I think the older you get the more you move towards that place in your life where you learn to appreciate the here and now, and not focus on every little detail of every single day.

    Thanks for posting this GG.

Three of my children were swinging at a park and two of them had learned to pump themselves in the swing and that's always a happy day for a father when his children learn to pump themselves in a swing. And two of them were going real high and Devon says, "I'm keeping up with Kathrine," and Katherine looked across and said, "I'm keeping up with Devon" 'cause they were swinging right together. And little Marinda was in the middle and she was just barely moving because there was a breeze. And little Marinda, hearing them saying they're keeping up with each other... said, "I'm just keeping up with myself" (Durrant 1980) :D

never take a person for granted. hold every person close to your heart cause you might wake up one day and realize that you've lost a diamond while you were too busy collecting stones.
