Thank you for the well wishes, beautiful ladies. :smt058 We had a rough time with Mom after surgery. She was in a lot of pain, nauseated and disoriented. Then, she basically did a 180 overnight on Wednesday and was able to come home yesterday morning. She's doing well now, except for the fact that she is basically helpless because of the back brace she is in. I'm staying with my parents at night to help and was up with her every hour to help her move. Needless to say, I'm not sure how effective that I am at work today. LOL

My dad's lung specialist called after they got Mom home from the hospital last night. The scan that they did yesterday morning on him showed that he does have a mass in his lungs. The doctor is rescheduling someone else to get Dad in first thing Tuesday morning for a biopsy. The doctor apologized to Dad and told him that it didn't look good.

I'm struggling with working and helping to take care of them right now. So, it looks like I may be MIA on the boards for a while. I just wanted to pop in and give an update. I hope that everyone is doing well. I'm missing you all and can't wait to get back on a regular posting basis. ;)

Thank you for the update GG. I'm sorry to hear that all of this is going on, but thank God your mom was able to come home. Nothing like recovering in your own surroundings. Please keep us informed about your father.

Like the others, I'll be sending my prayers your way....

awwww, kids!!! I :smt049 them! ;) LOL @ your nephew - that is hilarious. did he do the whole jump on top of you to wake you up thing? that's the cutest...my daughter is still too tiny, but i can't wait for her to be able to do that.

lol @ 2 shades darker! the sun is killer, but if you get a nice breeze it's the best. i hope it's not muggy as hell up there, b/c it's pretty bad here today. we're supposed to get our regular rain shower later today, so prayfully that will kill some of the humidity. rain is the best - i adore it!

    okay, i'm rambling....:smt036

ps: what did you decide on...baseball or soccer? :smt001

Glad to hear that your Mom is doing better! That's an answer to prayer. Will continue to pray for her, and your dad...and for YOU!!! ;) You've got a lot going on girl...hang in there. We'll miss you while you're away.

nah, none of that jumping and waking people up junk... i lock my bedroom door to keep the rascals out. same with the bathroom. it's like they just walk around opening doors without checking on the folk they're lookin for inside. nothing cool about that. lol

and we went with soccer. i figure at least that way i can kinda have some fun too. baseball is just watching a kid swing and miss for a hour... and if he is any good, i have to run down the ball every other minute. screw dat! lol

I just hope I find a job that pays me well enough to pay back these damn student loans. lol And maybe even enough to have a few babies. That'd be wonderful.

I graduate this time next year, supposedly. Let's hope!

Nerve wracking news: Nate gets to meet my family in just a few weeks. o_O My mom has convinced my dad somehow to use his dusty credit card (it's seriously been sitting there for years as an emergency only thing) to buy two plane tickets so we can fly out for a week over summer break.

I'm super fucking nervous. O.O but happy. But nervous. Totally. fucking. nervous.

Augh. I may expand on my reasons for being nervous later. I dunno. It all comes down to the area. West Virginia is not exactly the most racially tolerant place in the world. -_-

P.S. Yesterday was our one year anniversary. :D I still love my baby.

Girl, I feel your pain - 3yrs out, and I've hardly made a dent in my student loans....ugh! Hate them! And I'm a financial aid coordinator at the University of FL, so I deal with students in your situation all day every day. You'll be alright - I have total faith in you!

Congrats on your one year anniversary with your boo!! So exciting! And that's very exciting that he'll get to meet your family too - don't be nervous. Trust in the love that you share and everything will be great! :D

lol...oh, the joys of children! ;) most kids have no concept of manners at that age...haha. just keep those doors dead-bolted and you'll have no worries, lol.

LOL @ baseball - dude, i was cracking up, b/c that's just how it is with kids...too funny!! Enjoy the rest of your weekend - I hope you get to have some down time.

My daughter and I went out to dinner with my parents last night.

My Dad looks at me during dinner and asks me to price plane tickets, amtrak fares, and greyhound fares to bring my drug addict brother back home from West Palm Beach, FL.

    Fun times.

My brother allegedly has nowhere to go anymore. Every "friend" he's made down there has kicked him out. He was living in a halfway house and he was just kicked out of there for allegedly breaking curfew twice. He claims he wants to get clean and he can't if he's living on the streets. As Indiana Jones said, "I've heard that bedtime story before".

Of course, my Mom, being my Mom, wants to bring him back because he claims he doesn't want any part of going back to Chicago to find drugs. Uh huh. Where's the pinocchio smiley? All he does is lie, lie, lie and my Mom can't say no to him.

This will literally kill my Dad. My Dad is high strung and screams at the top of his lungs when he gets mad and he always has had heart problems. This is going to be a disaster. And I was thinking of moving back in with them for a little bit. I can't expose my daughter to that hostile environment now. I don't know what I'm going to do. I have month to figure it out.

When I made my feelings clear that this will be a HUGE mistake, my Dad said, if he messes up at all, he's gone. I just looked at him, tilted my head and said, "Do you really think Mom is going to allow that to happen?" He just stayed silent because he knows that she won't.

What a disaster. And he'll be coming back today. :smt095

Aww, major hugs Bookie. I know how bad this sucks. One of my sisters is a drug addict, and though she's supposedly clean at the moment (yeah where is that pinocchio smilie?) she's been some stage of high on something for about 8 years straight. My mother also refuses to see it and is constantly telling the rest of us that we're wrong, too hard on her, etc. It does get old being the voice of reason to unreasonable people. I finally determined that my mother is never going to accept that she's an addict because that means she'd have to take a good look at how she raised her kids and then she'd feel guilty. Now she didn't do a good job at all, but regardless of that my sister made a choice to be an addict, and that's on her. It's an irritating f***ked up mess and so I just try to stay out of it. I'm sorry you have to deal with this again, I know it's equal parts frustrating and heartbreaking. :smt056

Graduated this week with a Bachelors of Science in Industrial Technology from Southern Illinose University (SIU). I have decided to press on in the fall for the Masters of Science in Industrial Engineering. Also tested for 1st Cho Dan (Black Belt) in Shorin Ryu Karate and passed all the written, and oral exams and the practical demonstrations before the board of examiners. What a great year so far. I owe it all to my wife.
