So I was at the gym last night, and a stranger (260 lbs+ white guy) asked me to "spot" him. Now, usually I don’t socialize(with guys) at the gym; Im either there to train ladies or just do my routine and bounce. Well the guy wasn’t too pleased when I told him "no, im not here to spot you". Minutes later, he began making threats "youre lucky im in a good mood"….."you should play the lottery kid" haha...then he picked up his cell and called his friend "heyyy do you know what just happened".."noo dont come over you will make a mess" I was just laughing cuz I knew his ass would be eating bars (and I don’t mean chocolate bars) if he fucked with me. Why are gym rats so sensitive about this "spotting" business??....Mind you, hes not the first guy i rejected (I only work with ladies, thanks), and most of them were so hurt by it, it amazes me.
Gee I don't know BMJ... maybe cause it's rude? I don't think I've ever known anyone to refuse to spot someone, and no one ever refused me if I asked, in fact a lot of people will offer without you asking if they see you don't have a spotter. I think it's just courteous to spot them if they ask. I don't see why you'd have an issue with spotting a man, it's not like he's asking you to hold his dick while he pees.
HA!!!! Nice. Dude's apparently always try to start shit, and act hard at the gym. My friend always tells me stories about some jackass givin' him the shitty look. A month ago, my friend took a 45 plate some dude wasn't using, and he came up and was like "yo, my man. I'm about to use that". Then my friend goes "yeah, well, when you actually use it, I'll give it back. I'm doing my set NOW". Dude got hella shitty with him, but my friend couldn't really go off on him, because he didn't want to get his membership revoked. If a dude gets shitty enough with you, he'll follow your ass around the gym, and just stare at you. Love how he says that you're lucky he's in a good mood. Making threats n' shit, basically. n
Canucks are supposed to be polite. Stay off of the roids and you will stop displaying unnecessary roughness.
I've NEVER heard of someone refusing to spot someone!! That's some punk ass shit right there!! Did spotting another man make you feel like a bitch-fag or some BS?? 'No, I'm not here to spot you.' WTF is that!!???:smt011 Learn some gym etiquette, son.:toimonster:
lol When I did lift in public, I never refused a spot. It becomes like a bonding moment between everyone involved. Before you know it, you'll be talking shit to each other, yelling motivational sweetness, and seeing who can out lift who. but alas, this is a BMJ thread, and everyone should accept the usual asshattery which ensues.
Uhhh I don't like to spot at the gym AT ALL. If you have to ask you are doing too much riiiight??? I've never asked and If I was I moved to another area of gym after the spot. You see I am at the gym to do me. My shyte is timed. I have my Mobb Deep blaring in my ears and I am trying to get in and out in a buck maybe a buck fifteen. I have been told by a few folks that they thought I was mean because I don't speak to folks, EXACTLY!!!!
you nuc's aint shit i've never minded spotted. It's something everyone did when in the weight room for football, and just kinda stuck with me ever since. But I agree, if you're timing yourself you may need to forget about giving out spots. Sometimes you have to keep your heart-rate up and hit another machine/exercise, instead of just beating your dick waiting for bro'man to get it in.
Bingo playboy! I'm not as big as I was when I was learning my body, taking all kinds of shyte (no roids) MuscleTech, CellTech, the original Hydroxycut, Omega 3 tabs, other shyte and my bible Muscular Development magazine. But when I hit up the gym if my schedule was arms and legs, my state of mind was go HARD!!! I'd work my set on biceps, then it's off to burn my quads on the leg extension. Then I'd head back to work my set of triceps, be it dips (which I grew to love) or the cables, then back to my legs. Very little rest or the rest I got was the time it took for me to get from one area of the gym to the next. So asking me to spot you while listening to the 10 crack commandments by BIG while heading off to the next one, generally I may not even have heard you or pretended not to... Phuck off and go take 40 pounds off your shyte, then do your reps.
lol some people believe that doing as much weight as possible, for a certain number of reps, will help build their muscles. So, in their cases, they need spotters on that 5th or 6th rep. When I'm doing a low rep rep set, usually somewhere towards the end of a muscle group workout, I rely on my built-in spotters to catch the weight if I can't bang out number 6. Maybe it's time for gyms to catch up with the times, and rotate in equipment that has built-in spotting systems. As for muscle-tech (more specifically that orange-flavored cell-tech), myself and a bodybuilder at work swear it's the truth. That shit does blow you up, but it has the potential for side-effects like rashes, and tells you to avoid taking if you're diabetic. That shit has horrific sugar amounts. If you want to look like you're on some bodybuilding steez tho, legally, you don't need to look anywhere else. One thing I didn't like tho was that Nitro-Tech. MT used to send me complimentary orders of that shit, and I swear it gave me the Usain Bolts out my ass.
I remember when Muscle Milk by Cytomax first came out this kid I knew sworrrre by that shyte and he was pretty diesel. I got off that stuff because a doctor told me there are no long term studies on the effects of that stuff annd he stated the following. All your goals can be achieved by eating the right foods, with vitamins and ample rest. Right around that time my heart rate and speed was fluctuating (Hydroxcut). So I listened to him, these days I am just interested in some muscle definition and tone and my work out is about 3-4 days a week. Damn those were the day though? I was spending like $250 to $450 on food and products a month. The same honey dips that stated they didn't like dudes with too many muscles was all hugged up on me!!
haha... that's the best part about it. women are THE best liars. They'll say one thing and do something that's completely opposite of it.
So, help me out there then... Im dropping weight despite eating like a horse every two hours, I clearly do not take in enough calories to support my work out schedule. Any suggestions of protein shakes that would help?
yeah I got something full of protein that you can shake tell u what tho...seems like you want to do things to slow down your metabolism if you're dropping weight even tho you eat a lot, it means your body is burning fuel faster than you can pack it in
LOL!! how long is our, uhm... protein shake maker??? I know my body is burning fule faster than I can pack it in.. Im trying to fix that, so help a woman out here - what to do?
you can make sure to have fuel to burn jk :smt057 id say go for the carbs like usual suspects oatmeal and peanut-butter, or pastas. Stuff that'll give you energy. When I played soccer, eating pasta was something me and my roommate did, since you spend hours torching your body in games/practice. You give your body stuff like that, so it doesn't end up burning muscle, which is a no-no. Build muscle, burn the fat. Id also look at your cardio routines also. Some stuff I came across, came to the conclusion that you have to be 'cardio-smart,' rather than just running/jogging for hours on end, trying to burn stubborn fat in the abs or elsewhere. Short, intense exercises like sprints or jumping rope may be more appropriate.
Lotta help POJ is! I have the same problem FG, so I have to up my protein intake significantly. I use whey shots. They have 42g of protein (mostly whey isolate) in a 3oz shot, and they come in a bunch of flavors. I use the orange because I mix my protein shakes with Orange juice, both to improve the flavor and because I run low on potassium. This is what I buy: http://www.vitacost.com/IDS-New-Whey-Liquid-Protein-Orange I actually really like the protein shakes and I drink 2 - 3 a day, 1 after cardio in the am, 1 about an hour before weights in the pm and 1 after weights. I've gotten so used to them that when I smell the whey shots my mouth waters... LOL how weird is that? Anyway, if you up your protein you should be able to stop losing weight and just maintain, or build more muscle. If you're still having trouble, you might look at some casein protein a couple hours before bed to slow catabolism. Casein takes longer to digest and so feeds your body longer, whereas whey isolate is quickly digested so it's best used right before or after workouts.
Chase all you want big boy... not hatin', I was merely commenting on the lack of helpful information in your initial reply.
