That's cool. I'm surprised I never heard him say that and I'm a fan.

You don't have to abide by the rules though.

A lot of people would debate that with you. I'm not one of them, but for him calling himself Caublasian and not just Black, some people didn't like that.

I see Beyonce as Black, because both her parents are, yet you can tell her Mom is clearly of mixed lineage.

Obama, well, we all know what he is and how he's portrayed and how he identifies himself.

This census identification is merely political, just like slaves being counted as 3/5th as a person for representation. The slaveholders wanted to count us fully so they have could more representation, a compromised was reached.... Which is why I don't make the statement we were considered only 3/5th human as if that had anything to do with our humanity considering that if we were counted as full Human the south would probably have had more power.

Black politicians/leaders want as many Black people being counted as possible to get whatever is gotten from the U.S government.

I'm all for self-identity, I don't regard how one identifies on the census as necessarily making that choose though. Some mixed people regard that as the preeminent decision though.

There is and always has been a racial heirarchy in this country. There is white, and then there is all others. Most people (most, not all), people of mixed ancestry, especially in the case of black and white, if you look at them, would not be taken for white. Each individual has the right to call themselves whatever they want to. Barack Obama could call himself white if he wants to, but nobody who takes one look at him for the first time, is going to think he is white. He can call himself white and black, or biracial if he wants, to but if he wasn't well known, and let's say was a robber, and he walked up to any one of you, stuck a gun in your face and said give me your money. When the police showed up and asked what he looked like, what race he was, 99.9%of you are going to say he was black. Not white and black nor biracial, nor human. Cause one look at him says he isn't a member of the exclusive club. Or, if he was talking in a group of people, that included white's and Asians, and someone had to point him out. They may say he is the tallest man(if he is), or he's the one wearing the suit(if he's the only one). But chances are, each and everyone would say, he's the black guy-not the white and black guy, or the biracial guy. And all the feel good, we are all the same, we are all just human talk isn't going to change that.
