I understand, what you mean, Sir Nose. But I also think it´s just one perspective. You could also say that she is just brave and full of energy. To travel to somebody to get to know this person better is an active step and if this person is not as you imagined- move on. The important point in my eyes is to be independent, what means plan your trip by yourself, take a hotel.

Many people talk a lot with no action behind- something I personally do not appreciate.

Something is true, btw, I don´t think it brings her that much in a vulnerable situation, but she is the more active one- and that is something I can imagine, makes him looking a little bit lazy , unmotivated or uninterested.

I know guys, who travel from one continent to another- just to spend one or two days with somebody- something, what would make him never look desperate for me- just that he knows, what he wants.

I don't even know what country I'll be living in three years. For the right person, yeah. And why hide my intentions from family and friends? Have a back-up plan and live your life.

Make sure he has a proof pic with your name on it. You don't wanna come all the way from Australia to chicago, thinking you're meeting a tyson beckford look-a-like , then get heartbroken when you find out he really looks like pookie from new jack city.

bingo. there's the key. i've flown overseas to see if there was something deep with a woman. her personality turned out to be way different than i was expecting, so it didn't flow so well. but it was still a great experience. i learned a lot about myself just by being, well, adventurous.

Thank you Tarshi- I love that you love it!

Sometimes I really don´t understand, why people are scared.. I am pretty sure, would I ask, that I have a business- guaranteed 3000 or 5000 Us Dollars, people would travel immediatly- but for the possibility to find some one you really love- people are suspicious, careful..

What brings me to the question: "Are you really and honestly convinced that you want to find someone you really love?"

much agreed. i don't think most people believe, nor would they know what to do next if they found their great mate in a country half way around the world. it's easier for most to just deny it all and make it seem ridiculous than to invest in being stable enough to take the risk.

I guess I would if it was on neutrul grounds, I would research the country and the person who am meeting also we must have a video conversation as well on Yahoo, Skype or Msn I must know what the person look like but I will not go to a country that have a lot of internel problems because you might get Kidnaped or worst, it have to be on neutrul grounds such as a European country, I have been to Europe many times all parts especially Breat Britian and I love it over there, my job requires a lot of traveling but baby watch out for the Scams because they are out threre,
I have met quite a few women over sea's and it turned out well, Canada is a great place for interracial dating I mean the East coast, Europe as well I mean most parts, Good Luck:)

That´s for sure a point- but maybe it also has something to do with that Europeans travel a lot and we start already very early. People here fly to NY or Los Angeles just over the weekend or a few days for shopping or any special event. It´s no big deal at all.

My aunt for example was following her boy-friend and later her husband to Seattle in the 70´s- that was a big step! Flying was expensive- you had to accept not to see your family and friends for years- but nowadays it´s nearly the same, if you are married in Paris, Berlin, Lisboa or NY.

In Zürich i.e. a lot of people work without speaking german, french or italian- just english. If you are self employeed you create businesses between the countries or continents. I have a friend, who travels every month for a week or two to Miami- he rent an appartment there. Another one (Indian) imports clothes from LA for his Boutique in Geneve. A guy from Texas was an employee in our company, another friend from Haifa (Israel) is six months a year in China.. there are a lot of possibilities.

    The world became very small.

    Good post.
In january I was about to book a flight to California because of a guy. I would really have preferred him to come here right because of that "safety" thing, but he was broke so I really would have taken a plane to go see him.
I didn't make it to plan my trip though because he "left" me before. After that we had some convos that made me think "fortunately I didn't go" because his psychological balance wasn't the best. I would still like to meet him if i ever go to Cali anyways.

Other than that, I noticed that I'm much more willing to move/travel for somebody I like. I would even move if I found somebody I really fall in love with. I found some men who lived overseas that were all talk and no action... oh well but that's the normality haha :smt019
One thing for sure, I'm not taking a damn flight untill I see the guy's ass here in my little italian town (because if he comes here... it means it's really for me, lol). Time to let the men do the men.

In my sexist old-fashioned mind, absolutely. At least for the initial visit.
