As far as Italy is concerned, since I've not been there, I cannot give a critique on said fiefdom....yet..

Uh, the Brits? We've lived, loved, & worked there for a whopping 10 years...and though there IS prejudice/racism everywhere y'go...Mellisa & I (Mebbe because we *do* have mostly freethinkers, fellow artistes & such, from EVERY ethnicity & EVERY nation! [Well, almost, but close..] for our social circle) have *yet* to encounter ANY negativity in The U.K.

As for Eastern Europeans....to this day, I *still* get approached (When I am alone) by interested (and IF my situation were different...interesting) Russian Femmes...I *do* politely let them know of my....ah...domestic situation.

And I *do* have a couple of m8's that are from The (Former) Soviet Union..good buddies, all....sooooo................

I'm sorry but that's rubbish. Britain has one of the highest rates of interracial relationships as well as mixed race babies born in the entire world. I agreed with you to an extent about Eastern Europe and Russia but Britain? Absolutely no way. I've lived there for my entire adult life and that's just crap. My ex (black or east asian) boyfriends and I NEVER got any racist abuse.

 

London, England has the highest rates of interracial relationships not the rest of the UK cause it 92% white. Most European countries are majority white with tiny minorities.

Was I just talking about blacks? Nope. I'm talking about INTERRACIAL relationships and the last time I looked, interracial did not just mean black and white. The ethnic population was 8% in 2002! That was EIGHT YEARS AGO. And yes most European countries have a black minority but that's just like the States. There's only really been immigration into Europe for about 70 years.
One of ten children in the UK lives in a mixed race family, so when you're talking about the Brits being racist and all this crap, you are chatting absolute rubbish.

Mate, I LIVE here. I know more than you. Sure, if you go to some crappy little village out in the countryside the majority of people living there would be white but look at Manchester, Sheffield, Liverpool, Birmingham. Every third couple walking past you is in an interracial relationship. Every other people is black/asian/middle eastern/whatever whatever and nobody bats an eyelid. Yo

The English have the worst type of racism. Its always very much undercurrent and they come as your friends. They are worse than the Germans, Boers, French and of course even when compared to the Eastern Europeans :smt105

I'm sorry but Britain is absolutely not one of the most racist countries, that's bollocks. And Toughsnail that is absolutely not true and is a cynical approach. Most people here will be your friend because they want to be your friend. I can honestly say that absolutely every single person I know my age and in my parents generation have got friends of different races who they just see as their friends and as people rather than black or asian.

Racism exists here but it is mostly towards Middle Easterns and Eastern Europeans.

As to the question, I thought I had already stated this from my first post on this topic, but regardless the answer is "Of course - Yes". I do agree that the UK is liberal and multicultural but I also think the racism in the UK is skin deep whilst the French (example) its more about assimilation. Also the Brits are not as outspoken about their racism whilst the French are, which in my books is worse. I rather see the "train coming" than be "stabbed in the back".

I could always elaborate over a cup of tea as English is my 4th language
