My dad was hella tellin' me how we should kept Ariza, too. I wanted Ariza to stay hella bad, but when we picked up Artest, half of me was like "yes!!", and the other half was like "Oh shit, Kobe and Artest on the same squad?" I woulda spared the extra, money, too. Artest is good, and more aggressive, but the whole team isn't on the level that they were, last year. I wouldn't call Odom a flop. That's being too harsh. Dude puts in work and is generally consistent. Don't know how he's been these past couple months, though.
Knicks end Mavericks' 13-game NBA win streak Wilson Chandler #21 of the New York Knicks. March 14, 2010 Reserve Bill Walker had a career-high 23 points and Wilson Chandler added 22 as the New York Knicks stunned host Dallas 128-94 on Saturday to end the Mavericks' 13-game NBA win streak. The Knicks, among the NBA's worst clubs at 23-43, jumped ahead early and stayed atop the Mavericks throughout the second half, drpping the Southwest division leaders to 45-22 and behind Denver to third in the Western Conference. The blowout was revenge by the Knicks for a 50-point drubbing the Mavericks inflicted upon them earlier this season, a 128-78 romp in New York on January 24 that was the most lopsided victory in Mavericks' history. German star Dirk Nowitzki scored 20 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead the Mavericks while Jason Kidd added 15 points in a losing cause. Rookie Toney Douglas added 21 points and a game-high eight assists for the Knicks, who also had 20 points from Al Harrington and 15 points with 14 rebounds from David Lee. The Knicks had lost 14 of their previous 17 games and nine in a row at Dallas. The Mavericks, whose last lead was at 20-19 in the first quarter, connected on only 34-of-80 shots from the field, losing despite outrebounding New York 43-42. Source: The Associated Press
do you remember odom when he was with the clippers? even the work he put in when they lost to the celtics a couple years back. maybe i am being harsh but still, the guy is too talented to be insignificant in the lakers offense in random games.
Report: Karl suffers setback It is unlikely that Denver Nuggets coach George Karl will return to coaching before the playoffs, a source told ESPN.com's Chris Sheridan. The Nuggets coach has already missed eight games since being diagnosed with neck and throat cancer last month. He is undergoing a rigorous six-week treatment program of radiation and chemotherapy. Sources told Yahoo! Sports that Karl recently needed treatment for blood clots in his legs and lungs that surfaced while he was already undergoing treatment. The Denver Post reported that Karl's life partner, Kim Van Deraa, discussed his recent health issues in her blog. "On Sunday afternoon we had to rush him to the hospital. His leg was extremely swollen and he was having trouble breathing. After a phone call to the doctor, we transported George to the hospital and he was admitted for blood clots in the lungs and leg. They decided to keep him in ICU so he could be closely monitored. Subsequently, he underwent some procedures to place a filter in the stomach to catch any clots that break loose and also treatment for the clot in the leg. By Monday night, he was much improved. "We're not sure when he'll be released or when his radiation will continue. We're hoping both occur -- since it would mean he's gotten through the scare of the blood clots and we don't want to add any weeks onto the schedule of radiation." Assistant coach Adrian Dantley continued to step in for Karl during Tuesday night's 109-104 loss to the New York Knicks. The Nuggets are 5-3 without Karl. Sources told Yahoo! Sports the Nuggets remain hopeful he'll be back on the sideline for the start of the playoffs, but they're skeptical he'll coach much before then. "He'll return -- we just don't really know the timing," one source told Yahoo! Sports. "It really depends on how he feels." Denver's regular season ends April 13.
That's horrible news. Sounds like his cancer is spreading rapidly. At this rate, there's no telling how much longer he'll be around. I wish him and his family the best during these tough times. Its heartbreaking seeing a family member go through this. George Karl (IMO) will go down as one of the best coaches in NBA history. He really is what made the Denver Nuggets who they are today. Without him, I can't see that team being the same contenders they are now. At least, not immediately. Hang in there, George.
That's sad. It sucks to see when a player can't play because he's injured. It's even sadder when the coach can't coach because of life threatening health issues. Pull through, George.
I don't even like the Celtics but I can't wait until they play Cleveland
LA, The Lakers better s-l-o-w the game down and play their half court game. You should be worried a bit playboy, the Lakers have enough knick knack injuries that can keep them from getting out of the first round if they don't play the triangle with patience. In fact they better win on Tues, with the injuries I am not sure they can to OKC and win there. Especially since you wouldn't know which Kobe would show up that game...
I completely agree. I'll be quite honest, I don't expect the Lakers to win the Championship this year, much less, make it to the Semi-Finals. If I could put money on it, I'd say they beat OKC this Round and lose the next round. As for who will come out on top in the West, I'm still not sure but I wouldn't favor the Lakers to do so. The Lakers are just having a really bad year overall. Factor in the trade for Ron Artest, Kobe's major injuries and you've got a mess. I hope next year brings them good fortune and health along with more consistency and overall team focus. The Lakers have some growing up to do right now and this year's Championship more than likely belongs to the Cleveland Cavaliers. It's going to be very interesting to see how Cleveland does against Boston in the Second Round. In my opinion, that will definitely be the most interesting series this year.
I don't think the Artest trade was bad, he cannot be a factor on D chasing young wild boars. The Lakers are actually having a good year, think about it they won the West however you cannot discount fatigue. They've been playing into mid June since 08 with camp starting a couple months after that, toss in the Olympics and they gotta be tired. They've also been relatively healthy when it counted for the most part, but Kobe's multiple little knick kacks have him a step or two slower and he has maaaaaaad game mileage on his body. I still think they will get to the finals if they can get past these gazelles. The Nuggets are waaay out of sync as are the Mavs. OKC is the worst match up for them...
The Lakers are doing okay, but they've been struggling for quite some time. Yes, they clinched the number one seed in the Western Conference but they also lost the last 6 of 9 games to end the season. You're right, they're fatigue. Its shows. They'll probably come out on top in the West but I dont see them having much gas in the tank come Finals.
