Firstly, I kniow it kinda sounds *cliche* to have a query like this...and all apologies in advance...IF this topic has previously been discussed.. C'est La Vie! Ennyhow.... Of the ones that I've seen to date, I have dug (In order of acceptance): "SAVE THE LAST DANCE" (This was a really good one that I got Mellisa to see) "ZEBRAHEAD" (Produced by OLIVER STONE, this one was VERY engrossing and deep) "FAR FROM HEAVEN" (THIs one REALLY struck me PERSONALLY...ESPECIALLY when the street name of "Governor Avenue" was mentioned...as, back in the late 1990's...I...had a White [and married] lover--she was a waitress who came into my life right after I lost my Dad [my last living parent]. It was partly becasue of OUR situation that I not long after left the stae..and moved Westward.) "MISSISSIPPI MASALA" (Denzel Washington can do NO WRONG as a TOP NOTCH ACTOR, IMHO, and THIS was one of his BEST!) "ONE POTATO, TWO POTATO" (I saw it on the small screen twice...Once in...of all places, Cleveland, Ohio [on one of the more PROGRESSIVE independent stations; Hey, they even showed MONTY PYTHON'S FLYING CIRCUS on said station....and the commercial station an the show COMMERCIAL-FREE! Just like on BBC & PBS!];. The other time was on TURNER CLASSIC MOVIES. Needless to say, the film had the expected - and very sad - ending...seeing that it was back in the Early-1960's. Durn it all, I *WISH* that it'd play SOMEWHERE on The Big Screen at say, maybe, a film festival or something....most likely at one of the 'indie' cinemas..) "JUNGLE FEVER" (Yes, I admit I saw THIS, too....though SPIKE LEE is so goddamned full of himself and his anti-miscegenation agenda [After all, it was he that loudly proclaimed in a PLAYBOY interview that "In every Black man/White woman relationship..ALL the White women, they all be ugly, mugly dogs"!] that I could only stomach a handful of his films ["SUMMER OF SAM", "GIRL 6", and the BEST one, IMHO, "MALCOLM X"]..nevertheless I begrudgingly cede that "FEVER" *did* make some VERY valid points from ALL sides of the IR debate.) YOUR take on this, m8's? The ball's in your court now. OpinionsCartoonStudios@Yahoo.Co.UK
CRIKEY! I fergot ALL ABOUT *THIS* gem! Saw it at the drive-in with my Dad & Mum when it came out ALL THOSE YEARS AGO! (*Sigh!*) These old corroded cerebral memory input sockets & burnt carbides.... Thanx fer th' heads up, m8.... OpinionsCartoonStudios@Yahoo.Co.UK
I've fergot about *this* one, too, m8!! TWO "Senior Moments" fer th' price of ONE! As Mellisa would say : EWWWW!!!! OpinionsCartoonStudios@Yahoo.Co.UK
A Patch of Blue with Sidney Poitier and the late Elizabeth Hartman. She plays a blind woman and he plays the man she falls in love with as he attempts to help her become more educated as an underprivileged disabled woman.
I have seen all the above movies, and to me by far the best from the above are: Patch of Blue and guess who is coming to dinner, both Sidney Poitier's work.
Far from Heven is the worst IR movie I've ever seen. Not only the brother did not get more than a kiss, the hypocritical White husband was having fun with other men.
The best IR flick I've seen was "One Night Stand". Nothing could top it since there are a lot more IR love scenes.
Yeah I co-sign! plus wesley got sex and love scenes with a white woman and a asian woman. Now days You lucky if you see a brotha having a love scene even with a sista!
And, once again, Yours Truly has experienced a Big Moose(*) moment when making this thread. I forgot another fave o'mine: "SOMETHING NEW".. Oh, well, Better Late Than Never, *I* always say.. OpinionsCartoonStudios@Yahoo.Co.UK
