I have never managed to get close enough to acctually eat one so I dont know.. and I have NO desire to find out.
Its sells and when the new cans are released each year, its a huge thing with huge surstromming (that is the Swedish name of it) parties everywhere.
So I guess people acctually like it
    ???

wow. and how do they eat it... just raw out the can, slabbed up on some sesame crackers or somethin?

    LOL.
Nah, if you look at the poor girl trying to eat one, you put it on a specific type of thin bread with potatoes and dill.

You take a fish out and filet it on your plate, seems to be a part of the whole ritual.. so you only eat the fish filets. Still stinky as all hell full of bad intestinal tracts.

hmm... yea, i'll have to pass on that. kinda reminds me of that fermented shark they eat in iceland. except i think even that might be a lil less smelly by the time it gets to the connoisseur.

Well, they do it in Greenland also then.
In greenland they also dig down animals in seal stomachs to ferment.

There are some really interresting foods around:)

"Oils are applied to the skin to prevent infestation by maggots."
"...buried underneath a large, flat stone, seam-side up to prevent rupturing by the gases that evolve and contamination."
