Ugh! Another of those stupid stories were a pretty, rich person (usually, White American) is dissatisfied with his/her safe and comfortable life, and is guided by fate, karma, God, or whatever, to search out a happier existence. Only to find happiness with the "real people" (usually, ethnic poor people) of the world.
A Prophet (French: Un prophète) if you like crime sagas, this one might fit into your steez. it's an international film, so it probably won't be showing at your local AMC. lol from the reviews i've read it is more dramatic than action packed. so i would parallel it to Blow as opposed to Scarface... but i am sure neither parallel is correct. it's way more hardcore than that. if i can remove myself from watching march madness i will check this film out this afternoon, and let you know what i think. :smt024 A Prophet (French: Un prophète) is a 2009 French crime film directed by Jacques Audiard. A Prophet won the Grand Prix at the 2009 Cannes Film Festival. release date: in theatres now
aiight y'all, i went and peeped this film. (steppin out probably cost me my tourney bracket since i wasn't home to yell at the tv to push kansas to win, but oh well... lol) so yea, this movie was solid. only downer is 95% of it takes place in prison. i really don't like prison movies, prison tv shows, pretty much nothing jail related... but there wasn't gay sex and shit goin on in this one, so it was fine. i won't ruin the story line but i will say the previous statement that this film is more about drama than action was true. there is little bang-bang. it's a solid display of a kid that fumbles & wiggles his way through a criminal system he wasn't hip to, and works his way up. it also has some arty stuff mixed in that seemed a little out of place, but it didn't hurt the flow of the story. sidenote: it is a french film, so there are subtitles. i'm sure an american version with overdubs will be released when it goes to video, but i suggest everyone sees a film in its original released format to get the full effect. (just my opinion flowin there...) :smt109
I'm pretty excited about Clash of the Titans, might go see it with my girlfriend and her family on Easter weekend, what a way to celebrate a religious holiday, watching a movie about sticking it to the gods! lol..no but seriously, looks good. I might watch the original one, it has been awhile.
me also. i'm wondering if the commercials have exposed all of the funny angles to this movie tho. "look! dude is rockin a tape deck!!" lol
LOL! It got 3 stars from the movie critic at the Chicago Tribune. He says it lives up to its campiness.
this thought may be just based on me... i remember seeing the original nightmare on elm street as a lil y'ungin too small to get into the theatre, but got sneaked in anyway. and that movie scared the snot out of me. but this new piece... with this whole reason why he's crazy and junk... it's too much setup. once you explain why someone is off kilter, it makes 'em a lil less menacing. or is that just my thought there? people definitely seem scarier when you have no idea why they are insane. lol (actually that wasn't funny, just a totally true fact)
I think the original Elm STreet movie is the only movie that ever gave me nightmares. The dude that plays Freddie in this one, acctually auditioned for the original but wasnt good enough then................................
ditto. but there was some other spooky movie in the 80s that was weirdo. and i still haven't figured out what it was called... but it was in like a psych ward and the doctor was prescribing heavy drugs to his patients. and they were seeing things, but he was actually killing them. it was kinda off (obviously. lol) but that mess scared the sap out the kid. :smt022

I saw this trailer before "Date Night" this weekend. I think it looks funny, though they seem to give away a lot of the movie in the trailer. Hmmm... But The Rock is in it....:smt054
Tony Scott is directing the re-imaging of The Warriors called, Warriors. Tony Scott has had some flicks I've enjoyed over years, although I thought the re-image of The Taking of Pelham 1-2-3 was just mediocre... Deja Vu Man On Fire Enemy Of The State True Romance The Last Boy Scout Beverly Hills Cop II Top Gun Days Of Thunder The Hunger
The movie I'm most looking forward to, after "Inception".... This is going to be phenomenal, I just know it!! I can't wait!!!
lol... it gave me nightmares too Infact, I still remember it to this day.. I was riding in a car as a kid, on a highway...and Freddy clad in his trademark stripes, ripped a hole in the sky and started taunting me with his claws that's the only dream I can't seem to forget.. that and the Asian girl wet dream

I like that it's going back to the whole 'Hunt down Earth's Baddest Guys' theme that existed in the original films. Adrian Brody and Larry Fisburne have talent, so maybe it'll do well. The Yakuza dude with the Kitana reminds me of 'Billy' from the original one....and we all know how that went lol
