No kidding!, Eeven worse in Texas - the Tejano music is its own little thing, but seem to have followers in the Hispanic population all over the country.

Tejano music is slow as the dickens. The late great Selena sang wonderful music.

i dont think they have to date a BM or bw because they love the culture. if they like then they like it. i listened and still listen to country music but never dated outside my race ..... I will tho (LOL)

I've always been a home-grown country girl. Hunted, fished, horses, farming, etc. Never drove a car up until recently. My first car was a jacked-up '84 F-150 4x4 ... I have always been deep into that lifestyle, and I loved it then, and still do, and always will.

But, when my friends found out about my (then) new beau, they all flipped. He was half black half puerto rican (didn't know he was half black until after he got locked up ... his own stupidity).

That's when I "came out" about not liking white guys. I only dated them because I thought that I HAD too in-order to make people happy. When, in all reality, I was never happy.

So I can live one lifestyle, but I don't relate my lifestyle/interests into my mate.

*Ok, so if that makes no sense, let me know. I know what I was saying, but it came out differently as I typed ... lol *

It's you finally realized that you can date anyone you want so that you're happy and not trying to please anyone else.

Yes, but my lifestyle does turn alot of men away. As they think that I am automatically racist just because of the things I do. I tend to scare some people lol.

thats not a bad thing. I tend to like the contrast. I like getting introduced to something very different.

That's the way I look at it. It puts vairety in my life. I need someone to keep me on my toes.

First time I was introduced to clubbing was through my ex ... And I introduced him to a bonfire ... Completly different types of 'parties'. But we both loved every minute of it.

But, it was something neither one of us had experienced. One was completly wild, while the other was more of seeing friends and dancing 'till the sun come up. (The bonfire was the one that was wild! lol) ... We got to see different sides of each other.

I agree with both you and Boke. That's good when you can share your interests with someone and they do the same. It makes for great experiences and memories. Then you can come together with your common ones too....

Yes I have seen this too with white men & women. It does seem strange to me too, especially in reggae & the whole one love lets get together & break down barriers. There could be a few reasons; some of the white women may just have a simple preference for their own (WM), some may have dated African or Caribbean men, & had a bad experience with them, & racial social taboo. Even in settings like reggae where it is supposed to be all one love, some people still don't approve of interracial pairings. There are is also a flip side where some of the Black men and black women for that matter who are into their cultural roots & want everybody to stay with their own, the black men want to keep their culture pure/stay loyal & not get mixed up with white women. Sometimes white women are viewed as the devil in extreme cases. So if a white woman who likes the culture & engages in some of it; ie; food music, dance, & might be attracted to black men as well, but gets a negative vibe or encounters black men & women who want to stay with their roots/culture/ their own, she may not venture out & date black men.

this is just my humble observation, please don't get me wrong, I believe anybody should be able to date whom they please, I have no problem either way, the only time I have a problem is if someone tries to tell me whom I should be attracted to & date & needless hatred. I hope I make some sense, I am not trying to make blanket statements. And I don't want to offend, I like this site & the opportunity to learn.

Raul, using your logic this board should be filled with rock music talk instead of hiphop.

:D To be honest I love Rock Music. If I had to pick between Rock and Hip Hop. It may be the former rather than the latter. And I go hard in Hip Hop I must say.

Some men on here are interested in Rock Music also and guess what they are attracted to White women. The logic has holes, I understand. But some might have had this thought before
