15 things you did not know about me

I'm new here, but I really enjoyed reading this thread & thought it rude of myself not to participate.... so here goes:

1 - I'm almost 34 and still (at times) I blush so much that my freckles seem "glow in the dark". It's embarrassing, really.
2 - It feels like I pretty much raised myself because as my mom so eloquently put it I "looked like I could take care of myself" (among other reasons). I think I turned out okay in spite of a few things, and I "do me" rather well.
3 - I used to be a candy striper & volunteered at an afterschool program in my younger days.
4 - So far I've lived in 3 states, visited 20+, & flew to Canada once on a whim. My "bucket list" of places to go seems endless.
5 - I was accepted for hire at a big city Sherrif's Department. I turned them down & to this day I occasionally wonder what my life would be like.
6 - I decided not to join the service right out of HS, because my father talked me out of it based on his wartime experiences.
7 - I enjoy history, and I'm working on documenting my family's genealogy.
8 - My mother will probably never understand how much I really do want & need her to be a positive participant in my life.
9 - I have the unfortunate talent of speaking rather bluntly at times... sometimes peppered with the rather colorful vocabulary I picked up from working in this male dominated industry.
10 - My first live pet was a black lab/doberman named Shadow in HS. He was hit by a car and I never looked for another. I say "live" because my pet rock from Brownie/Girl Scout camp is named Fred
11 - I adore reading, but I do not read nearly as much as I have in the past. My mom loves to tell the story of when my HS librarian called one day and said "Hi Mrs. _________, our records indicate that your daughter __________ has read every book in our library & I'm not so sure that she hasn't read the encyclopedias as well... " - now if only I could get back to that & implant a photographic memory to boot.
12 - I tend to talk.... err... type too much when I'm nervous.
13 - People have complimented me on my speaking voice (once I was told I have the voice of an angel) but I have no idea what they're talking about.
14 - The thinnest I've weighed as an adult was 165# (I'm 5'9" btw). The male attention I started receiving scared the hell out of me & pissed me off at the same time. I'm older now, so when I'm back to that range it'll be soooo much different :smt077
15 - I think it's disgusting when people don't wash their hands (with soap) after using the bathroom & I refuse to shake hands/hug/etc with them (no matter who they are).

There are quite a few things about me that coincide with information divulged by others in this thread... but I'll go with a non-verbatim quote from a previous poster that read something along the lines of "all the really cool stuff can't be revealed online"

hi starchaser...lippy was born in la crosse and spent many summers feeding the mosquitos in wisconsin...if you are looking for family genealogy material the largest resource center is in salt lake city...fascinating how much you can find out about your family

Lacrosse - is that by the WI/MN border-Twin Cities area? A coworker advised me to drive exactly the speed limit in that area because tickets are handed out but the bushel.

1)I'm a preacher's kid (PK).
2)My favorite color is blood red.
3)I can't live without seafood.

7)I have a degree in Political Science but I talk more about religion than I do politics.
8.)I've been performing spoken word poetry for the past 11 years.

11)I'm a no nonsense type of person. I will drop you as a friend if I detect signs of jealousy or deceit.

Ok my turn I guess.

1. Even though I say I hate romantic comedies I secretly love a lot of them. Spent an hour crying watching P.S. I love you (don't judge me lol)

2. I wish me and my father could have a better relationship. Even though he's done a lot of fucked up things to me and my mother I love him. He's my dad nothing can change that.

3. I'm a bonafide genius with an IQ of 143 even though I think its bs. Have you seen ally my typos lol.

4. I'm a little jealous of my younger brother. He's way more athletic and has such a natural draw with people. I always feel like I have to be "on"

5. I come across as shallow and money hungry but the truth is I'm a very simple guy. Jeans and tshirts all the way. I always felt like money was the only way I could find love and happiness. I seriously don't know any other way to do it. Everything costs.

6. I like lifting weights but hate cardio even though I was on a State Championship Cross Country team in hs.

7. I hold belts in both Oyama Karate and Judo. I also enjoy taking Krav Maga

8. I can bench over 300 lbs but can barely curl 70 lbs.

9. I have a savior complex when it comes to women I date. I always over extend myself.

10. I hate my job. If it were more stable id much rather be a writer and an inventor like Benjamin Franklin.

12. When my grandmother died in 03 I inherited over 100,000 dollars and lost the majority of it in the market last year.

13. I donate at least 20 dollars worth of canned food every time I get paid. Trying to be the change I want to see in the world.

1. I too, am a Vegetarian (Lacto-Ovo - I eat dairy and eggs) for 11 years.

2. I'm a late bloomer (First kiss and boyfriend at 18 and lost my virginity at 21).

3. I'm a neat freak (the way I look and the way I keep my house).

4. I have some psychic ability (I like to say I have strong intuition).

1. I used to be a total tomboy. Now I'm a complete girly-girl.
2. I have 6 half-siblings. On my mother side (4), niether of us have the same father. On my fathers side (2), none have the same mom.
3. I have a very dirty mind and I know how to use it.
4. I am a rebel. I've never been one to follow rules. I was on a first name basis with every dean at my high school.
5. When I broke my ankle the first time, I continued on my week-long camping trip without ANY medication or without seeing a doctor. I rode horses, hunted, fished, etc. Because of that I have a HIGH physical pain tolerance.
6. I love old muscle cars. But, don't let the stilettos fool you. I know what to do under the hood too.
7. I'm a funny girl. I am constanly making my friends laugh. Most of the time, I can make them pee on themselves from laughing so hard.
8. I'm a cat person. I have not once in my life been without a feline.
9. I love raw oyesters.
10. I believe nothing is better than a cool summer's day, sitting out under the big tree, with the radio turned up, and being surrounded by the people you love most.
11. I hate the daylight savings time. As soon as I get used to the 'change' ... It changes again.
