    Jodeci never played live instruments.

One is a singing group, while the other plays their own instruments in addition to singing.

As easy as it seems, the latter is much harder.

Don't get me wrong, I like Jodeci. They have tons of classic songs.

Its just two different types of groups (IMO).

Mr.Dalvin and Devante swing played instruments , wrote the songs and arranged the music.

So if everyone plays an instrument that means you're a better group ?So I see now the jonas brothers are better than boyz to men because jonas brothers play instruments smh.

    No, son.

I'm not saying they're better because of that. I respect artist that make good music and play the instruments live while performing. As in, all of the members of the group play live, in sync.

Boyz to Men is way better than Jonas Brothers IMO.

There weren't really any hits in the 70s, though. :D Aside from Rappers Delight, Personality Jock, and That's the Joint, and a couple others. Also, the late 80s was heavy on sampling.

I don't know if this is qualified as sampling, but b-boys were breakin' to James Brown records, since the 70s, and MCs were rhyming over any good breaks they could find. James Brown sampling was extremely heavy in the 80s, and got played out by the early 90s. Kool Mo Dee did a hell of a lot of sampling of James Brown.

Hip-Hop wasn't created by one person. Sub-cultures are never created by one person.

Andrae, aren't you the person who was preaching about people being too emotional and sensitive?

Yep, I thought it was you. You're taking someone expressing a dislike for hip hop a little too seriously don't you think? It's music we're talking about, not poverty, or world peace, or abortion... music. Live and let live babe. So you don't like what someone else does, big deal, it's certainly not cause to call someone a racist. That's really offensive, and it negates the validity of anything else you write. You're better than that.

Oh and on an unrelated note, just because someone happens to agree with you, that doesn't mean you should associate with them. Sometimes you should take care in who you chose to ally yourself with, some people are completely unworthy and they cheapen you.

Espy I don't know how much of the thread you've read but Karma consistantly attacks my generation along with my community based on the music. He and soulthinker are constantly bashing hip hop and blaming it for the down fall of AA community. And I specifically said he was like a southern racist not an actual racist. He's close minded and never misses an opportunity to myself or any of the other younger guys down because of his tastes and his personal likes. When we make supported arguements in support of our position he dismisses it as ignorant hood shit. I know you won't take any offense to it because he's not taking personal shots at you, someone isn't constantly calling you stupid or ignorant solely passed on your age. And just because I know he'll read this I'm every bit as smart if not smarter than Karma. I present and support my arguements thoroughly and I'm not afraid to engage others who disagree with me. Btw I seriously don't like how you just approached me on thi threat. I respect you and admire you but the way you came across in this thread made me feel like you were scolding me. I definitely don't appreciate that.

You need to go back and read the thread too Andrae, you are not the only person I've addressed in this thread. I am not scolding or picking on you, sorry if you took it that way, but I'd think you'd know better by now babe. My suggestion to you about taking care who you associate with really was solely out of concern for you, nothing more, no hidden agenda. You're a big boy, I know that and I've never treated you as if you weren't, nor am I doing that now.

You and Karma are likely always going to have areas where you don't agree, maybe that is due to the age difference, and maybe it's just a difference in personality or opinion. It doesn't really matter why, I just think people... as in all people, not just you... should be able to disagree and debate without resorting to name calling. For the record saying someone is 'like a racist' is tantamount to calling them a racist in my mind, and again I really do find that particular insult offensive given this is WWBM. Seems like there's been entirely too many threads that have dissolved past the point of meaningful dialog and become personal lately, and I for one am just tired of it. People don't have to agree, but they don't have to be ugly about it either. We're all adults and I don't see why we can't just agree to disagree politely? Sometimes it's just best to take a break, regroup, and come back once I've regained some perspective.

Agreed. For the record babe because one might support and love ww or support ww and bm being together doesn't mean those same people can't carry a disgust for bm because they feel the way certain bm act reflects on them and because of that they can develop a hatred for other bm. But you're right stepping back is a good thing sometimes, I just get very annoyed when someone continously insults my intelligence but won't back up said claims. I think that's just the NY in me babe. We don't back down here lol

I understand that quality Andrae, believe me retreat is not a concept I'm familiar with either, it's right up there with trying to keep my mouth shut when I think I have something to say. And for the record babe, there are some WW that I'm not particularly thrilled with either, but I don't hate anyone, regardless of how badly I feel they reflect on my gender. But you do whatever works for you babe.

No it hasnt done more harm to the black community.

Drugs, violence, AIDS, poverty, lack of education, single parent households have done a LOT of harm to the black community...not harmless music. It is sad to see a lot of really young brothas listening to a lot of that vulgar ignorant crap though and buyin into it. SMH

I still only listen to 90s hip hop. Havent bought a new rap cd in ages. As far as I'm concerned, hip hop is in a coma as of right now. The South is sorta to blame for that. All that krunk shit is wack as hell.
