they're supposed to start shooting for a bioepic movie about Liberace. michael douglas is going to play the piano wiz and matt damon as his life partner. since liberace was such an over the top and world recognized character, i started thinking of other artists' stories that would make good movies. (sidenote: that notorious b.i.g. movie wasn't half bad. dude that played biggie was on point) so they've made movies about the doors, ray charles, beethoven, loretta lynn, ritchie valens, jimi hendrix, charlie parker, eminem (lol) supposedly they are still working on one about tupac. here's a few i'd like to see down the road: the beatles, bob marley, miles davis, janis joplin, parliament, sade. what other artists' stories do you think would make for interesting movies? and it doesn't just have to be musicians... there were good films about jean-michel basquiat and jackson pollock.
The Runaways The Runaways is a movie based on lead-singer Cherie Currie's book Neon Angel. The movie focuses on the band's formation (The Runaways were formed in late 1975 by drummer Sandy West and rhythm guitarist Joan Jett), and their meteoric rise to fame. release date: March 2010 look y'all, dakota fanning is all grown up. lol
I wanna see 'The Runaways'. Good thread, Adventursum! I still have yet to see 'Alice In Wonderland'. :smt033
thanks L.A. here's the remix to alice in wonderland. lol
Oh good gods no. I mean....why? The original Death at a Funeral was BRILLIANT. Can't people just leave these things alone and think up their own ideas instead? :smt012
Micheal Douglas as Liberace? That would be a challenge but,he would pull it off. I saw him on TV when I was a kid and he was funny. There is a museum in Vegas which fits his lifestyle to a T.
Love this thread! I'm so looking forward to this movie. Maybe because it looks awesome. Maybe because Leo DiCaprio :smt049 is in it. Maybe both. :smt023
unfortunately i am sitting in a noise bucket right now and cannot hear the sound on the trailer. cinematography looks tight on it tho. looks like the release date is mid-July 2010. so it will probably get a lot of media hype starting around memorial day.
I heard that a remake of The Warriors is being made. It was supposed to be released this year, but I haven't heard any new updates about the progress(YES!). The shit doesn't even take place in New York, or the 70s. Also it's being produced by MTV. Fuck that shit.
That movie was pretty good. I didn't want to see it, because I wasn't into the whole "Crunk" genre that was in the movie, but storywise, it's good.
Kick Ass release date: April 16, 2010
OH I saw the preview to this last week. It looks great. I'll miss it in the theatres but I'll definitely get this out on DVD when I get back. And I'm desperate to see Iron Man 2, aswell.
