Apple iPad to be sold in US on April 3, 2010

Pre-Order on March 12

Apple announcemeed that its magical and revolutionary iPad would be available in US in the month of April, to be precise, on April 3. This initial shipping will be for Wi-Fi models. Late in April the Wi-Fi + 3G models would be available.

Additionally, all models of Apple iPad will be available in Australia, Canada, Germany, France, Italy, Japan, Switzerland, Spain and the UK in late April, Apple said in a press release.

From March 12, people in US can pre-order Apple iPad on both models from the Apple Online Store. So people in US can start their reservation on March 12 for the Apple iPad units which would be available on April 3.

Starting at $499, iPad lets its users browse the web, share photos, watch videos, play games, listen to music, read E-books etc. Apple iPad is 0.5 inches thick and it weighs just 1.5 pounds. iPad is expected to deliver a battery life of up to 10 hours.

Boo!!!!! $600 over a supersized iPod touch. Don't think so. They need to give it a mac os then it'll be worth it.

 

The iPad looks like total shit to me. Why the fuck do I need to buy an adapter to use USB? That should be standard. And there is a lot more wrong with the iPad. Apple started to get on my good side by utilizing a UNIX core for OS X, but the iPad has put them on my bad side again.

I try to avoid the 1st version of anything anyway, I am sure the later versions will improve on this.


Also, I am waiting to see the introduction of the many competitors tablets that will be arriving this year.

I really don't see the point of this. On another forum I frequent a woman was excited to get rid of her laptop, which didn't fit in her bag properly, so she could replace it with the iPad she was getting. Quite frankly I think she's going to miss that laptop.

This will be big with people who care only about fashion.

 

I am going to replace my Macbook Pro with an iPad in my pocketbook. Cant wait. My bag looks ridiculous with all my daily carries. IPad will work wonderfully for me.

Oh and it will play youtube videos as my iPod Touch plays them just fine.

 

iPad is such a bad name. Could the writers of MadTV sue Apple? Even if it was a sketch from a couple of seasons ago they did come up with the name first.

 

Has anyone "actually" spent quality time with this product??
Yeah, there are no USB ports nor flash. However the shit is pretty slick. Go spend 5-10 minutes with it...
It will replace my HP notebook the summer of 2011.

when you think about it, you could get a regular fucking laptop for that price. And with 4G internet retailers popping up, you really don't have to worry about WiFi hotspots like in the old days of mobile computing. Now, you can have internet anywhere just like you would have on your phone, so there really is no point in getting the iPad unless you really need a big-ass touchscreen.
