Tony Kornheiser SUSPENDED For Hannah Storm Comments http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/02/23/tony-kornheiser-suspended_n_473491.html
I don't watch ESPN but hey if she's still got the body and it's tasteful why not go for it? That outfit in the pic doesn't seem too bad to me. I've seen "desperate cougar/raiding your daughter's closet/2 sizes too small" outfits before and this ain't it. Should he have been suspended? No.
Lol of course he shouldn't be suspended. He should of apologized for hurting her feelings and that's it.
By the letter of ESPN's law, he absolutely should've been suspended. They have a zero tolerance policy for employees denigrating one another. However, judging from the picture, the outfit does seem to be inappropriate for an on-air journalist/anchor. There's too much skin showing, the top is tight and the boots aren't even in the realm of conservative. Take a look at the male standing across from her. Everything is covered except his hands, the top half of his neck and head. That is the conservative look generally expected of on-air journalist, though Hannah Storm (amongst several others I've noticed) continue to push the envelope. As other women journalists continue to dress this way, the standard changes and Tony Kornheiser nor anyone else will make any comments. Still, I wouldn't describe his comments as sexist. Male journalists aren't allowed to dress this provocative (too strong a word really) on television so there's no double standard.
It is a bit sexist in my opinion. I heard about it on Reliable Sources on CNN and it sounds too personal. She can wear what she wants to. She is also hot and for him to say such prudish shyt is uncalled for.
yea, it was wrong for him to make his statements. and based on his contract, he deserved the suspension. it was also very funny and true, she needs to chill out on the skimpy gear. i was watching sportscenter the other day and she had on some sheer purple top that was not very becoming. it would be one thing if she was on a late night E! tv show but dag, espn is top notch reporting. i'm surprised her superiors don't check her. wait a minute... it's a sports channel watched by millions of men. yea, forget my questioning. i still agree with kornheiser though. :smt080
Mr. Tony's gimmick has always been to be a grouch. He did have a point as Hannah's red boots were a little too much. She does tend to get her cougar on. I guess in her mind that since she still has it at 47 y/o, be proud of it.
She looks good in it, I see nothing wrong with it Only thing is the skirt is too short for any age - on TV news imo.
Maybe I'm missing something but it's sports. It's not like high-level interviews with global political or business figures. It's not exactly Meet the Press.
ok, let me re-phrase that.. I acctually include sports in the news. And although I agree its way mor elight weight than a deepdive into todays economy... Dont ask me why Im that conservative about that stuff. I dont know. Its not like I am a prude. :smt033 But, I think she looks good in it and the letter written was stupid.
I can dig you having that conservative bent but like I said, it's sports. The local sportscaster here wears skirts and boots, too. Our sexy weather woman Amy Freeze (yes that's her real name!!!) also pushes the boundaries with tight sweaters and short skirts. I can understand it if you're interviewing the Dalai Lama or something but the woman's giving scores for Christ sake.
the only thing wrong with what she has on is that it's plaid...you just don't wear plaid when you are on the news...any kind of news...she probably didn't think they were going to shoot her full body...most of the time they shoot from the waist up...reminds me of that nba interviewer that always wore those really loud jackets...
I don't think Tony Kornheiser's comments were sexist. I watch Tony regularly on Pardon the Interruption, he's just an idiot. He thinks that his job sometimes is being a pop culture icon and tries to be hip and funny. I just think he tries way too hard. Come to think of it, why do I regularly watch Pardon the Interruption? I couldn't even watch Monday Night Football when he was commentating. He does this to everyone though, the guy just likes to bust balls. Even his own at times.
I'd like to know where you got that information. Are you a former employee and got booted for the same reason or you have a spare ESPN contract lying around. Seriously, post a ref. link. It's actually pretty impossible for a male to dress provocatively unless he's standing there in his underwear. Sorry, that doesn't work for us the way it works for them. In any case, i've noticed her outfits for awhile and thought they were a little teeny-bopperish for a women her age. However, I'm not one to call her out among the many other female journalists out there. The fact of the matter is people (women way more than men) will always be critical of women and what they wear. She is simply playing to the target demographic of her show, which are men 18 - 49 years old. As to Kornheiser being suspended, i guess it's warranted. I would say there is definitely an "unwritten rule" about chopping down a co-worker; and being on national t.v. makes it that much worse. He's welcome to his opinion though, therefore absolving this from being a sexist statement. He just went about it wrong. Sexism is another issue altogether. Hannah's wardrobe could use a little "tweak" IMHO anyway. I think the outfit would have been PERFECTLY fine if she went with her usual black boots. The red ones were over the top and just washed her out in red.
On sportscenter they have a VERY expensive hi-def studio they invested in and they choose to take advantage of this set as much as possible. The end results are a lot of wide sweeping shots that consistently show full body shots. She was fully aware of that information. P.S. That N.B.A. interviewer you speak of could very well be the same lady in question. She was an N.B.A. commentator for NBC for well over a decade.
I'm pretty sure that they were referring to Craig Sager in this post, dont quote me on this though. The clothes that this guy wears makes me almost positive that they were referring to him. Google him, you'll see what I'm talkin about.
First, off, I need to correct my own earlier post. The following are not my own words but I actually posted them as my own. They belong to Newpowermoves.
oh i know Mr. Sager, quite well indeed. He is ggod for a laugh every NBA playoffs. Power to him though, he wears what he wants to.
