That's my point, the refusal to speak after the accident just fueled speculation and created a feeding frenzy. Of course to deflect the worst of it he would have needed to admit to multiple infidelities upfront, before the women started coming forward. Had he done that it wouldn't have had near the shock value when they started coming out of the woodwork. You can't diffuse a bomb once it's gone off.
I respect what you're saying Andrae, but neither of those men had all the issues that apply to Tiger Woods. The deck was stacked against him so to speak, it wasn't just his squeaky clean, wholesome family man image that caused the backlash, it was a combination of a lot of factors that the other's didn't have.
Ok I can go with that. I just didn't like how others made me seem like I was talking out of ass when siting race as a factor.
I absolutely believe that race was a factor. Now granted I don't know of any WM who are professional golfers of his caliber that have cheated on their wife with a harem of WW, but certainly if one existed you wouldn't be hearing people commenting on the fact that all the women he screwed were white. That only comes up because Tiger Woods is considered by most to be black, IMO.
all has a right to their beliefes and mine is that race was not a factor. He is on the top of the food chain, had he been way down on the food chain, I would agree. I believe that had he come clean right from the start, he would have rendered all those cheap floosies powerless including the media. Lets face it, it sells, mounting to oodles and oodles of dollars being earned in selling copies of gossip magazines and adding viewers. I am sick and tired of it and didnt care to see is appology, he owes nobody except his family and sponsors anything. He will be back and people will forgive and forget, he is after all one of the most name recognizeable athletes in the world.
:smt023 I agree with you on both of these points FG, and I didn't watch his apology because I don't think he needs to make one to the general public either.
Why the media demanded one is just plain disgusting, and we all know why they did that. Had he come clean this circus would not happen I think. Why the hell does he own the world an apology. Now Im gonna clean up the mess after the 8 women bbq party I just had:smt025
I don't think there is any truth to what you say at all, it was Tigers own bad mangement that let this get out of hand, so you are just fueling paranoia, as to the smartass thing, I don't like you and I think your attitude stinks if I could bad rep you again for the negativity you bring to this board I would.
I think there is racism against Tiger (Golf is as a white mans club)(I remember Sighs refusal to play in the same tournament as a woman) I have no doubt about that... jealousy, envy, racism etc. However, when you get as far up as he is in the food chain.. money is the main driver. He sells. Everybody knows his name. Its not the racists that are driving this.. its he media (not saying there are not racists there) but they are just exploiting this and his poor management of his..uh, indiscresionS. Its the allmight dollar at this point that is driving this circus and had he been white and done the same thing.... dollar signs would in the same way be driving the gold diggers and the media who is profiting on them and Tigers poor decissions how to handle this.
Very correct, it´s not always a racistic issue, just because a black person is involved. That´s paranoid, as Francie mentioned. As soon as people are rich or famous, nobody cares anymore about their race or gender. Just anyone wants their shape. That story was a jackpot for the us-media. Adultery- and not only one women, no, several. America is different in that. And he or his management didn´t do anything against it. Neither before, nor afterwards. I am still convinced that it was planned and maybe it outgrew. In Europe it wasn´t a big story at all.. some reports, that was it. But if I remember Bill Clintons blowjob-story, that was something else.
I know you guys think money is a bigger motivator here and I will admit it is a factor but I'm from the NY the media hub of the US. Every major paper and every news station has their headquarters here and when the Governor of NY, a family values advocate, got caught with multiple hookers he wasn't put through the same shit cycle as Tiger Woods. Mind you it was an election year and it forced NY to have it's first black governor during the same year we were getting our first black president. The story was monumental and didn't get a third of the coverage as the Tiger thing. It's hard for to see this and not think him being black isn't a huge part of this. I know you guys don't think in terms of race which makes you so beautiful in my eyes but it doesn't take away from the fact that so many do.
Listen babygirl you blatantly tried to insult me by saying that when everyone responded I stayed quiet because I had no arguement. What gives you the right to insult me. Am I not allowed to defend myself and my arguement. Secondly I am definitely not paranoid but being black means having to keep your eyes wide open. I don't have the luxury to ignore unfairness and injustice because one day I could be the one treated unfairly. It's actually more likely for me than it is for you so I guess I can see how you'd see it as paranoia but in my eyes it's being aware, it's being vigilant.
You know, you live in US- I just can say how it works in Europe and some other continents.. Money is always the factor in anything, followed directly by Sex. I cannot imagine that, if we would change Tiger into another white person and everything else would be the same, the media would have said.. oh, we have to be kind, better not to exploit the story as much as possible, better not to earn the money, better to be polite ( I´ve never seen moralities by media). No,I don´t think so, but as I said, you live in US, not me.
Exactly. I mentioned the John Terry incident, almost identical except for the guy is a footballer and is white. There was also Ashley Cole, a black footballer, who cheated on his wife Cheryl (who is an absolute media darling here) with a white woman (or several white women, depends on what you believe) and the focus was on his infidelity and NOT his race.
Many times I have Africans here and most of them don´t play the "It´s because, I´m black card", but some do. I tell them again and again, don´t think like that. You need not to assume that he would have treated a white guy different, it cannot be that if someone made a mistake, you cannot correct him, because he is black. I also know women, who play the card of "for sure, they can do it with me, I am just a woman".
You're using a European situation as an example and we all know that Europe is far more tolerant than the hyper racial obsessed US.
Agreed. So if you aren't giving Andrae a rebuttal with an American example I don't see it as an equal comparison.
