I've been a fan of this comic strip for awhile. The central characters are a Japanese Man, his Black best friend, his White friend his other Asian friend, his White Wife and his biracial kid. One thing I like about it is that the Black male character is not a token, and in fact from what I've seen he appears in the strip more often than any other character other than the lead. Sometimes he is portrayed positively, sometimes negatively, but never stereotypically. He's a nerd, and an inventor, and an infomercial addict. As comic strips go, his character is pretty nuanced and interesting. Today I read that it was the first and only syndicated Asian comic strip. There's so much attention brought every time any other minority group is attacking Black Men, it's nice sometimes to see Black Men being embraced, especially in strip of such major importance (as comic strips go). http://secretasianmancomics.blogspot.com/ http://www.secretasianman.com/
Just an interesting aside: Recently I've heard a lot of anti-biracial people suggest that Asian people don't rep Tiger Woods as one of their own (usually this was part of an argument suggesting that Black people should not either). It's nice to see that's not universally true, as evidenced by the Secret Asian Man t-shirt that the artist debuted last month:
