has online dating taken away the ability for people to be real

Has online dating taken the ability for people to be confident in meeting people or has it made it more effecient in meeting someone you would have never met.

It seems to me that it is a plus and a draw back. It can help people meet but people can be too dependant on the online and just stay in the home.

are there any successful online meeting that led to a good relationship and/or marriage ?

Yes, there's good and bad regarding it. My take is -

The Good:

- You get to pick and choose (since I'm big on attraction) who you want to talk to.

- If their profile is believable, you get to pick who you want to talk to by what they have to say. Be it the content that's written or their personal details. You can cut them off later on if they're liars.

- It makes it less of a nervous situation cause you're in the comfort of your own home.

The Bad:

- You don't know who you're really talking to.

- They could use someone elses pic or could be lying and are really married, attached or a psycho.

- There's less personal interaction (but then again, this can pick up once you meet in person).

 

yeah the other thing is I have yet to meet anyone who has successfully met someone on the net. I did read about one hollywood person and she married the guy. Outside of that I have not personally met someone.

Im kind of weary of it for the reasons you noted such as fake photos and fake bio

 

Well, that shouldn't deter you. I've met some really cool people online. From guys I've dated to my ex boyfriend to my best friend. I thank God for the net. It brings people who are farther apart, together.

 

that is a true statement in that you can meet people that you would never talk to. for example you and I are talking now. It is great. what I do like about it is that you get a different perspective and rethink your views on things.

 

Yeah, it's nice to exchange thoughts, experiences, ideas and the like etc.

I think they were antisocial to begin with. It might make people lazy in regards to socializing, but I don't think they've become anti.

I think it makes it easier for the less outgoing ones who need sort of a head start or a boost to be social.

 

yeah I can see your point. maybe it is good for them. instead of anti social maybe we should say shy people . then again antisocial people are just at least to me mean people.

 

I don't know, I've known some mean people who are social creatures, but just have a stick up their ass and are downright negative.

and most of my friend i have meet them onlline as i dont go out much
so can realy work well... for dating for the singles, even meeting people and just end up good friends.

funny is the friends that am more comfortable with them are the friend i met online and know more about me and i can talk almost about everything


anyway i think its good the online dating and yes have some bad things but then again even if you go out you will meet some idiots and liars also

despite the websites it is still funny about meeting on the net. I guess it is kinda wierd I dont know

also sometimes people who get on the online forums tend to be assholes because they say some real mean stuff. NOT EVERYONE but you know what Im saying.
