Hah. I always kinda wanted an illegitimate sister to come outta the woodworks when I was growing up, cause all my mom gave me were two brothers.

Hopefully if she is actually your sister you and her become great friends. That'd be awesome. :D

Yesterday I learned that it's not just Nate that loves my cooking. lol I had a nerdy party to celebrate MLK day. I think Dr. King would've been proud, cause we had a lovely mixture of people. :D There was even a half asian dude involved at one point, I'm fairly sure.

I cooked for like 9 people (though the 10th, 11th, and 12th "guests" didn't get to each much except leftovers of sides and dessert) and everyone was like "omg, this chicken is so fucking good!".

    My response: "duuuuuh" :D

It got annoying, though, because my apartment was constantly being bombarded by party crashers! And it wasn't even a wild party or nothing, we were just playing video games and eating dinner and people kept showing up that I did NOT invite. lol And my apartment is small, damnit. It got hard to fit everyone. Was fun nonetheless.

We had pan-fried chicken, stuffing, mac n cheese, and baked fries that I heavily seasoned, and bitty brownie squares with marshmallow goop on top.

I didn't even eat much at all. I was so busy cooking and being a good hostess that I got like 3 bites from my chicken before I gave it to Nate, and during a mini excursion all my brownies got ate up before I got to have a single one. lol

I guess the lack of leftovers means dinner was a hit!

I just wish we'd gotten to turn it into a study party, but we were all too distracted by video games. argh. lol

It was a long holiday for me with family (not bad though). I was away in Cali for x-mas and Costa Rica and Panama for New Years, only to come back and begin the moving process, twice! I moved my main residence to Hindsale, IL. and got a new, little studio on Michigan ave, in downtown Chi.

On top of all this, I have a shit ton load of work for my MBA classes. I love school when it's optional, taking classes for leisure, but going for a goal or with an end point is just loosing it's luster.

I haven't been on he boards as much, but I had this morning to do what I wanted and I loved every moment of free time, eat breakfast in my own time, at the same time watching "Pursuit of Hypness," all while posting on the boards, life is great right now....:smt003

Thinking of doing an hours worth of balancing on the Pilates ball i bought this week, lol it's harder than I thought

Also watched Avatar at the cinema with my man on Friday, great in 3d very entertaining but maybe went on a little too long.:D

I met the Lighting and Technical Director of Avatar. He said, and I quote: "[Making] Avatar was a pain in the ass."

Fantastic movie, though. He was basically the head of the lighting department, the people who adjusted the lighting (digitally) and colours of the movie to give it a cohesive and distinctive feeling to the visuals. They also made sure all of the compositing (green screens and 3d imagery) integrated seemlessly into the live action action shots.

I should imagine anything as visually impacting as avatar would have to be the biggest arse pain known to man, I'm sure the wow of the movie must have long ago worn off for that guy lol

The scenes with the plantlife were my favourite though, when they lit up when touched was a great effect.
It almost felt there was too much to look at, when i took the 3d glasses off my eyes felt so strained.
But still defo worth going to see.

Thank you FG, pretty proud of myself the smoking thing especially, so glad i'm doing the gym as well, otherwise I would have put on so much weight, just starting to get a handle on my eating habits now that its been 4 months of non smoking, so the weight should drop off a bit quicker now im eating properly and excercising rather than just excercising lol :D

It was definitely a lot to take in. I sadly didn't get to see it in 3d, but just regular 2d was impressive enough to me. Beautiful film-making, flawless effects...breathtaking, really.

I -think- his department was the one responsible for the fancy lighting plants, but I may be mistaken. I know that would certainly be part of the lighting, but it may have been relegated to another crew simply because of how massive the film was.

Visual effects are crazy in movies. I really wanna do that someday, so I've done my homework...and of course I was absolutely mesmerized by Mr. Rosenfeld's lecture. The painstaking effort that goes into even the smallest effect is crazy. Way too often people have to paint that shit in frame by frame...and when you take into account most films are shot at 30 frames per second...Well, the numbers get crazy. Unless I'm mistaken...it might be animated films that are 30 fps, though I think that's live action. I just know that's the "new" standard my school is imposing on us for all of our projects, now that we've gone HD with everything. But regardless, the other standard we've switched back and forth between is only 24 fps, which is not much different and still a pain in the ass. lol

It's tedious work, but if it's the kind of thing you're into it's enthralling. Especially when you see an end result as beautiful as Avatar.

I stopped smoking a gazzillion years ago but still remember how hard that really was to lay off. How did you do it? Cold turkey, decrease, pills or patches?

I scared myself to death basicaly lol i had such a bad cough in Sep (made worse by smoking! although I was in denial)
I was sitting in my living room had a coughing fit and fell on the floor unable to breathe, it was like my Lungs closed up on me, I was so scared, my Mum was over and actually called an ambulance because i was near to passing out, I literally smoked and coughed myself into some kinda Ashtma (sp) attack, after that I haven't had a ciggarette since, cold Turkey! I refused to go to hospital and was so ashamed that I'd done that to myself, I just had to sort it, I joined the gym to help avoid more weight and to build up my Lung function again.
Nothing like scaring the shit out of yourself to stop smoking lol:D
