:smt003....but even in the books, Frodo had far more hair on his chest than Elijah Wood did in the movies.

Everytime he got a hangnail or he got constipated, he started crying like a lil'bia!!!! I was hoping one of those Oarks would just kill his girly-ass off!!!

Um, they *are* based on...comic books, after all...even if The Batman was originally conceived as a gritty, vigilante-type figure (hence the reason why *many* super-heroes back then NEEDED to have a Secret Identity)

In regards to the Tobey MacGuire controversy here...The original characterisation of Spider-Man is one that MacGuire (As wellas director Raimi) tried to portray as accurately as possible; In the original comics, even though Spidey was a valiant as they come, Peter was *still* being picked on and harrasses, as well as having trouble paying the rent...

I remember one scene in the books where a *very* anguished Peter, on the roof of his apartment building, thought about challenging Flash Tomson to fight him....all the while clutching onto the brick wall barrier..

As he thought about making the challenge...his grip tightened upon the brick motif...breaking the motif apart as he became more and more anguished, as he thought: "...but he'd never accept the challeng because...he'd think I was too weak for him!" .. as, ironically, he has crushed the bricks into flinders..

And that's where the mass appeal of Spidey originated from Back In The Day. None of that Hair-Combed-Perfectly-Into-Place-And-Being-Magnificently-Proper-And-Infalliable-Like-Superman stuff; Spidey, whilst being a true hero...was still invariably Everyman...that people could identify with..

    Just my tuppence, m8's..

I'm not a comic-book person, so if that is who Peter Parker really is....he's a punk...and Tobey Mc-Crier is a girl.

....absolutely love Superman...no greater superhero...no equal.

Batman is just a dude in tights...shoot his ass in the eye, it's a wrap.

Well The Rock has just released 'The Tooth Fairy', so I'm sure his calendar should be completely free for Spiderman after that stupid decision

About the comic book movies, it seems as if the formula lately has been that the first movie stays pretty close to the original concept. The second movie carries over a villain from the first movie while the hero gains an ally. The third movie has more than one villain.

What I like about Spiderman is that he is vulnerable. He's human, as AnMDBCartoon pointed out. In the first Spiderman movie, I thought the high school sequence was awesome. It honestly reminded me of the first Superman movie when Clark Kent was on his way to work saving people without revealing his powers. The third Spiderman movie, other than the "dark Peter Parker" part, was forgettable.

In contrast, the reason I like Superman is because he wakes up Superman. His disguise is a normal human being.

If James Cameron is making the new Spiderman, I might see it in theaters.

Now tell us what ya *really* think m8!:smt003

No James Cameron for this'n, m8...some bloke named Marc Webb (Never heard of him...but one heluva pun, though, eh?) lined up to do this'n..

Moreover, I kinda sorta mebbe think that Cameron may very well have drunk himself merry on Dom Perignon...along with the appropriate delerious self-congratulations..........for "Avatar" having topped *lots* of prior box-office successes...including his *own* ("Titanic").
