I hate this. I love the first 2 Spiderman movies, the 3rd one, eh, but seriously? They need to reboot the series? I understood and was behind the Batman reboot, but Spiderman too? Ridiculous. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/hr/content_display/news/e3iddf4077045b31afc6088f148eaee3ac2
It was documented that Tobey MacGuire would only consider doing Spidey IV *if* Sam Raimi was to direct. If not, he did opine he would depart. Methinks Raimi opted *not* to participate in IV, as the story wasn't up to his standards....*he* opined not to direct if that was the case.... And so, for those hardest of the hardcore....if ya *still* intend to go...ENJOY it for *me*; I do not think I'll be there, m8's... OpinionsCartoonStudios@Yahoo.Co.UK
It's doubtful I'll be going. I was behind the Batman reboot because of the nature of those original movies and where they wanted to go with the new ones, and considering the original movies were 10-15 years old. But, Spiderman, I'm ticked off about. Hollywood needs more original writers.... They also rebooted the Hulk series rather quickly, but while I didn't see the original one, I was told by numerous people it was terrible. I heard they're also rebooting the Superman movies again. Thank GOD for that. The Superman Returns movie was awful.
I could not see the Batman movies. It's a personal boycott against all things Warner Bros. after what they did to me after 7 years of working with 'em Refer to : http://www.whitewomenblackmen.com/forum/showthread.php?t=12655 for further details.. So true. If only they'd think more with their Organic Cerebral Circuitry and *less* with their coke spoons. Lest they end up like Jerry Bruckheimer's Much Regretted partner Don Simpson. Towards the end of the latter's life, the moniker of the Production Company still said Bruckheimer/Simpson Productions (or vice versa)...but Bruckheimer did 90% of the work, whilst Simpson....devoting more of his time to Typical Hollywood Partying....only contributed 10%. I thought the 1st film with Eric Bana was not too bad... I also have declined to see the Superman films for reasons already discussed.... As far as reboots are concerned, here's one that I *really* don't wanna see.... http://www.mtv.com/movies/news/articles/1591705/story.jhtml I still *very* fondly remember the *original* "ROBOCOP" , though I gotta admit, I *did* see a couple ofprior films by Paul Verhoeven (in his native language, Dutch)....so, I wanted to see what he'd do with his first Mainstream U.S. film, and I went away *very* impressed.... What galls me, right after the reimagining of Classic telly programmes for the big screen (Almost ALL of them total abortions), is the reimagining of past hit movies....and the originals aren't even all *that* "old" to begin with! And in *many* cases, the originals were *far* superior to the re-makes! I shudder to think what might happen with *given* classics such as "Doctor Zhivago", "Lawrence Of Arabia", "2001 : A Space Odyssey", "Gone With The Wind", "The French Conection" and things like these a couple of generations from now............. The possibilities are nothing short of frightening................ OpinionsCartoonStudios@Yahoo.Co.UK
I watch comic book movies because I love comic books. But, frankly, 8 times out of 10 they leave me disappointed. Most of the time I can only enjoy them if I haven't read the books prior to seeing the movies. -_- And that sucks. When i know the story, and get all excited for the movie, it generally turns out to be retarded. You'd think that adapting a book that can function pretty much like storyboards for the film would be a lot easier! I understand that they think people don't want to see the exact same story...but I kinda do! There are some epic stories in those books that would look amazing in film, but instead they gotta rewrite everything, fuck up all the facts that fans (like me!) enjoy, and pretty much shit on the fiction we love so much. Bah. I still watch comic book movies, though, cause I still love comics. But I don't buy them, and unless they're fucking amazing (like Iron Man. I quite enjoyed that movie) I don't even bother stealing a copy from the internet. You know what are good comic book movies? Those animated features Marvel has been doing straight to dvd releases for over the last few years. The Ultimate Avengers, Dr. Strange, Iron Man,etc. Now THOSE are some damn good movies. I used to have Ultimate Avengers 1 & 2 til I had to sell them to pay a bill at school. -_- edit: I realized I didn't specifically say anything about the topic. lol All that was to say : A new spiderman movie is retarded, whether part of the original series or part of a new one. Enough is enough.
curious... villains still not seen yet that I'd like to see: Rhino; Lizard; Morbius; Man-Wolf; Black Cat; Hobgoblin; Electro; Kingpin; Tombstone; The Rose.. Hopefully some other women in Pete's life can get the spotlight-- Betty Brant, Liz Allen, Deb Whitman, Gwen Stacy..
Sony, which owns the movie rights to Spider-man is probably doing this because: 1. By having a new cast and director they save money. 2. To keep it fresh (i.e. Batman Begins) 3. If they sit on the license it reverts back to Marvel which is now own by Disney who would LOVE to take over the property. 4. Spider-man 3 "Arrrgh"
Instead of a Spider-Man reboot maybe there could be a Spider-Girl movie or television show. There seems to be a good fan base for Spider-Girl.
There was a decade between "Batman and Robin" and "Batman Begins." No such time lag between Spidey films. I'm with the other poster, it's time for Spider-Girl.
Here is an article written in May 2008 about the roboot phenomenon: http://www.denofgeek.com/movies/58266/the_modern_hollywood_fad_the_reboot.html Another one from Sept 2009: http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/the...ryone-in-hollywood-is-hooked-on-remakes-.html Ugh.
Maybe this time, they could actually cast a CONVINCING Spiderman instead of that gay@ss Tobey McF@ggot. (Sorry folks) He's got to be the sorriest interpretation of a superhero that I've seen. He sucked major ass. I thought his punkass was gonna cry in every other scene. Somebody should've slapped him and took his Spidey-duds.
I actually like Tobey Maguire as Peter Parker. I just read that they're thinking about Robert Pattinson. I loved him as Cedric Diggory, but he's no Spiderman. I hope they choose someone else. Not that I'll be seeing it.
:smt056Yeah, I know you dig'him D-Dub. But you know I think he's a certified sissy. Him and Frotto from Lord of the Rings should don skirts and high-heels, it would be more fitting. Even Duane 'The Rock' Johnson asked, "Who's scared of Tobey McGuire?"....hey, Maybe The Rock could be Spiderman....now that would be far more believeable than than the panty-wearing Hobey McGirly.
LOL! The Rock can't be Spiderman. It's Spiderman, not the Hulk!! Btw, have you seen the movie Brothers? Tobey Maguire is a BADASS! He's a great actor and he's a good Spiderman!
There's a reason why they want to reboot this series. They saw what happened when the Batman series was re-done and they want in. They figure, they can make these upcoming movies more "dark" and edgy. People tend to like that.
True. But the original Batman movies were more cartoonish. I wouldn't say that about the Spiderman movies. Plus, they're like 5 years old. It's ridiculous to reboot this series so soon.
Oh and don't be dissing Frodo and LOTR!! Elijah Wood made a GREAT Frodo and hobbit. Those are my all-time favorite movies!
:smt108D-Dub, honestly, I can't bring myself to watch anything he's in. Everytime I see him, something in me tells me "slap him and take his lunch money, lil bitch." :smt043
LOL!! You need to see Brothers then. He's awesome in that movie. You won't be thinking that after seeing that movie.
